I really hate Juvia's voice in Animax's dub. Quite disgusted with the French accent. (I have nothing against French people.)

I'm VERY, VERY pleased with Funimation's choice for Juvia's voice. Brina Palencia is one of my favorite voice actresses. She pulls off the serious and comedic moments quite nicely. I'm looking forward to future Fairy Tail episodes to seeing her do more excellent voice work.

People can say what they want about how the VOICES sound in that series, but if they think it's a better dub than this, they don't know good voice acting when they hear it.

Natsu has a deepish, gravelly voice that sounds forced and practically has no range of emotion whatsoever (whether he's happy, upset, or angry, he sounds EXACTLY the same). Happy's voice is kind of better than this, but he reads his lines kind of funny, and he doesn't say "Aye" ONCE.

Gray sounds like a dork, but he's okay, I guess.

Erza, by far, has the absolute WORST voice of the main characters. Her voice is not only deeper than the one here, but it's dull, uninspired, and makes her sound like she has a cold at all times.

And each and every one of them acts in a horribly wooden manner and read artificially translated lines.

@womoek All in all, the Animax Asia dub is more or less a hit-and-miss when it comes to the voices, but when you consider other details such as the wooden acting, the uninspired translating, and an overall lack of effort that makes it sound like a half-assed fandub, to say it is better than this dub is an insult to the more evident effort, care, and energy that Funimation gives Fairy Tail, which is everything a dub of Fairy Tail needs to work. And that's all it needs to work for me.

@womoek Well, there's "watchcartoononline . com." It's listed as the "Animax dub."

However, only the first 33 episodes of the Animax dub are up on that site. They did dub the whole first season and nothing else (they didn't bother doing the second season), but the rest of the episodes are really hard to find, and most of them have their audio five to ten seconds out of sync with the visuals.

Did you see "Changeling" dubbed by Funi? Or the stage play? Because to me, Funi made those episodes even funnier. And then there's Fairy Law, which they made even more epic by just the delivery alone.

In fact, Funi takes many scenes that weren't originally very funny, yet weren't supposed to be serious, and makes them more funny.

Remember that chicken who screams "MEAT"? Well, I remember him showing up in that episode, and when the play started falling apart (not literally), he said "BAD MEAT!" That was hilarious, and it wasn't even the best part. Stage-frightened Erza and Old English-speaking Gray definitely stole the show.

In English? "They're so scared of the master's punishment, they're actually sweatin' rainbows." Follow up with Macao telling him to stop drinking, and you've god comedy gold.

@daftpunk104 Of course it's weird. It's as weird for longtime anime watchers as it is for longtime manga readers to hear Natsu speak with a male voice actor instead of a voice like Naruto or Luffy.

But when you let it all sink in, it starts getting pretty damn good. In fact, there are some unforgettable lines in Japanese that are turned into pure comedic gold. It has true entertainment value in the translations alone, which not many dubs today have.
