  • what a baaassssstard

  • is it just my bad eye sight or did someone that look like charles darwin appeared in this clip?

  • Colin Firth you're so Mr Darcy that it hurts soo bad xD

  • Colin Firth hot hot HOT !!!

  • I find it interesting to see the colours in the original version - they are much warmer than in the re-conditioned version, which, although marvellous, has made the complexions to pink, imo

  • I've just read the book and seeing these videos from the BBC series, it seems to do justice to the book. It's very close to the original storyline, unlike the 2005 movie.

  • @Brunonsense "it seems to do justice to the book." I've read the book many times, this adaptation comes closest to, not just to the narrative, but the feel. It more than just a love story, though it's one of the best love stories ever written. Jennifer & Colin will, for me, always be the definitive Lizzy & Mr Darcy. Jennifer in particular used her eyes to convey emotion. When a woman, who's light are turned, looks at you with desire. God that's appealing.

  • @GuillemotWatcher I've finished watching the whole series. It's amazing! Colin Firth's personification of Mr. Darcy is even scary. He portraits the character in a very remarkable way. And Jennifer fits so well as Lizzy. The only thing I would change about it it's the ending. i would like to see more of them together and Elizabeth as mistress of Pemberley. Nevertheless, it is fantastic. Jane Austen would definitely approve it.

  • Just because Keira Knightley is skinny she is not real or pretty? Both Keira and Jennifer are beautiful, please.

  • pants.

  • i have this complete movie...so romantic! i love it!

  • I need to see the whole thing of this one, I really liked the one with Keira Knightley in it! :) Great movie, and I loved the parts when Darcy was so flustered around her lol. And then the very end when they were both finally together. :D

  • Wow, Bingley is really well-played!

  • The best TV series I have ever watched :)

  • @34RiverStone YES definitely YES. He can't do it. He just looks sort of awkward... Matthew MacFadyen does it well.

  • I thought Jane was supposd to be beautiful.....

  • lolll P&P is the best. I can never get sick of the story and the dialogues.

  • colin firth defines mr darcy for me :D

  • It is a truth universally acknowledged that the 1995 BBC adaptation of"Pride and Prejudice" is a masterpiece. Love it !

  • Darcy and Lizzy well justified..............

I Never could get enough of Pride and Prejudice...............

  • I'm watching this in my english class :)

I've seen this one and the 2005 one and I have to say this is best even though I love Keira Knightly's portrayl of Elizabeth. Coliiste one and only Mr.Darcy for me I love his charm and his mystreousness and he is so handsome <3

  • While I adored every actor chosen to act in this minisseries, I didn't like the one chosen to portrait mr. bingley too much. I thought his acting was too forced and not as pleasant as bigley is in the book.

  • Gosh how Colin Firth IS quintessentially DARCY!!! Perfect, flawless casting!

  • Good but i must say the film is much better and more enjoyable than this and i am not to keen on colin firth as Mr Darcy not handsome enough but he will do i suppose

  • @ILOVEWAFFLEWATCH I think Colin Firth is WAY more handsome than the guy in the film

  • All I can say is...Mr. Darcy will live to regret the words he says.

  • why cant men run around like that nowadays

  • I do not like Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. He may be good at other roles, but I feel that Matthew MacFadyen is far better, in the one with Keira Knightley.

  • @forestgirle NO

    definately NOT

  • hey can any1 lemme knw where i could find the whole episode?

  • Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy are an odd pair of friends. Mr. Darcy is more reserved and Mr. Bingley is more out going. They're both some of my favorite characters. :-)

  • i think jennifer ehle is prettier than jane.. and in the book shes not suppose to be.. but amazingg adaption all the actors are fantastic.. there are no other people who can quite pull of lizzy and mr darcy as well as jennifer and colin

  • new favorite movie. :D its amazingg . hehe mr darcy is

and who said jane and elizabeth weren't pretty?? cuz they definitely are..

i just loveee it!!!! ahh the story is so precious and amazing !! <3

ps. if you haven't seen the whole thing, DON'T spoil it or yourself!!! it will RuiN the first-time-ness of watching it !

  • He is definitely the most handsome man ever...and they did even more to make him handsomer! like dying his hair...and those great sideburns! He already had the eyes...and face to go with it. And let's not forget that wonderful wardrobe!

  • If you are a Jane Austen fan, you will love the new collectible PRIDE & PREJUDICE Limoges box by Beauchamp Limoges. You can view it at LimogesBoxCollector . com

  • LOVE IT.

"She is tolerable at the most, but she's not handsome enough to tempt me."

Best line in the movie, because he totally contradicts what he says later on in the movie <3

  • @TaigaToraDora i love the scene when lizzy mockingly imitates that very line to her sister lol

  • nicest top rated comments EVER?

  • Best version ever and my fav too!

  • is this the 05 version?

  • Comment removed

  • @sysukl9 no this is the Tv mini series from 1995

  • @ReilaHizuri oooh ty anyone know where i can watch the movie version of 05 of this movie? pls and ty

  • @sysukl9 Well a friend of mine is getting rid her P&P 2005 dvd away for free. So far no takers yet.If she hasn't disposed it off as of yet u could be in luck. Will let u know.Cheers mate!!

  • @ayannamarie1 oh great! sure ill take it! :)

  • @sysukl9 You can watch it here. Just type in Pride and Prejudice part 1. The first thing that pops out is it. ...Yeah, trust me, I have experience.

  • @MiwiChiquitoBui oh ty :D

  • I find it disturbing reading the comments where they mention how ugly lizzy and Jane were. kiera knightly is NOTHING compared to those actress's, back in the day having meat, breast, and curves was beautiful and it still should be! Not tiny, no boobs, no meat. Lizzy and Jane were gorgeous in this show. And the newer pride and prejudice is nowhere near as good as the BBC version!

  • @izbiz24 You are SO right!! I couldn't agree more!!! I can't stand the newer version of P & P. Kiera Knightly doesn't fit the character of Lizzy at all and that actor who played Mr. Darcy looked about as handsome as a fish.

  • @izbiz24 I agree with you. Jennifer Ehle had an unconventional beauty ,but she was very pretty. She had and she still has a beautiful smile, a nice and sweet face.Keira is beautiful, she has done a good job,but she has been more a telegenic girl than a true actress in that film, her acting isn't comparable to that of Jennifer Ehle.

  • @eleonor141 Really? I found jennifer's acting a little too theatrical personally, and she's not even on stage while Keira's acting was more realistic. Its how normal female human beings would react in the same situation.

  • @eleonor141 When you stated that "Kiera is more of a telegenic girl than a true actress in that film" are you saying that Kiera is a fake?

  • @izbiz24 So are you saying (covertly) that Kiera is ugly because she's not built in a curvaceous way? What if she was born that way? Like predisposed genetically to being skinny, some people cannot help being skinny you know. And if you think that people view curves as ugly then why are the Victoria's Secret models very popular? And why are there so many women still getting breast implants?

  • The more times I watch this movie, the better it gets. Perfection!

  • I much prefer the 2005 version. It's prettier in a way, more fun.

  • @Zaiba94 Same. Its more romantic than this one as well. Even though this is a good adaptation to the book, the 2005 version is much cuter. And I prefer the other Mr. Darcy as well. I love Colin Firth, but I think the other Mr. Darcy plays the role better and is really handsome :DD!

  • I so love and appreciate Eliza's quiet confidence in this scene. She sat quietly and gracefully as she listened to Darcy belittle her and every other woman in the room. That smirk on her face leads me to believe that she confidently knew, deep-down within herself, that she would conquer him and his alter-ego...Bravo! Elizabeth...

  • I've watched bbc version of pride and prejudice like a million times! I have parts of it memorized xP

  • colin firth looks like a zombie-eyed pervert here.

  • what's the title of the music in this video? I can't find it

  • what's the title of the music in this video?

  • very nice

  • i lol'ed at the dance in the beginning! its lik some weird style of ring-around-the-rosies

  • i like how to get back at him she goes and laughs about him to someone else.

  • I can't even BELIEVE the "ugly" comments regarding this movie!! The females in this version actually look like REAL women from that time, not souped-up Hollywood creations. Sure, most of the girls are supposed to be plain... but Jane's face looks like a Hellenistic statue, and Elizabeth is VERY pretty as well. (Also, the novel specifically states that she's not supposed to be the prettiest sister; she's the smartest sister.) God, people don't even know what 'natural beauty' IS anymore...

  • @5ilverhalo

Hear! Hear! We've become so looks obsessed at the expense of what should could first, talent.

And God knows I love looking at good-looking people (HEL-LO COLIN FIRTH) just as well as anyone else, but the craft should come first.

  • @5ilverhalo thank you.

  • @5ilverhalo every time i saw jane i thought exactly what you just said, she's a live venus de milo

  • @5ilverhalo Really, dont insult gods people. Its comments like this that makes it hard to get on the net without worrying about coming across insulting comments such as yours.

  • @SonyXLR How was that insulting? The commenter was defending the cast...

  • @thegreatchelso I thought he said "Gods people" not "God, people ~" lol

  • @SonyXLR Ohhhh, gotcha. Haha.

  • @5ilverhalo Well said. Most people forget that at that time beauty canons were different from today, so this version's Jane is actually closer to what Jane Austen and her readers had in mind. And whoever says that this Elizabeth is ugly doesn't know what "ugly" means...

  • @5ilverhalo couldn't agree with you more.

  • @5ilverhalo You're so right, Jane does look like one of those statues!

  • My cats called Mr Darcy ... no joke, cool eh? =)

  • this is absolutely and positively better than the movie. Whenever I see Colin, in any other role....even the foolish Valmont, I can't help but be brought back to this. He is such a great actor.

  • Jane looks like a thick-necked downey....sooo conflicting...hot Darcy...downey Jane...makes it almost bitter sweet to watch

  • I love Colin Firth in "Bridget Jones" but in Pride and Predjuice my favorites actors...keira and Matthew...:)

  • I thought this version was perfect with a great cast, and I did prefer it to the film. I must be the only one who finds Keira Knightly plain, with no screen presence at all.

  • I know that this is supposed to be the best film version of the book, but I just don't like the cast. Maybe its just me, but none of them are how I pictured when I was readin the book.

  • I'm sorry to say so, but the girls in this movie are disgusting- the only person who doesn't have an ugly face is Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Ew! I prefer the other movie- but I suppose everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, hence comments. (:

  • @darcifymylove I think one reason I prefer this version is for exactly this. These are REAL people, not Hollywood's artificial beauty. If they have their physical imperfections it only makes them more believable, and more relatable. I agree with LiteraryWriter, Miss Bennet's beauty comes as much from how she carries herself and reacts with that little knowing smile as it does from the prettiness of her face. That said, I honestly can't see how you can call them "disgusting".

  • @Shular67 I do not think, in this version lizzie is greater and is very fake and very makeup ... sorry

  • the REAL Eliza, the REAL Mr. Darcy!!

  • Tags... Sex Tension.

    Hahaha

  • this should be the one and only 'pride and prejudice' on screen.

  • I love Pride and Prejudice!! And Colin Firth was made for the part of Mr. Dacry!!

  • Well, I prefer the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. I know, it's not completely like the book, but i find it very passionable.

(I don't know what I've wrote, I'm italian and I can't say too much in english)

  • @MiChiamoVick i love both the versions..the 2005 one is an hour and a half long movie and this is a looooooooong drama series hence slow but more accurate to the book..personally i love both

  • Mmmmm, Colin said barely anything in the first 4 tapes or so and yet he still had such presence in the movie. He's the perfect Mr. Darcy!

  • this is so like the book!

  • For all the people complaining of who is not beautiful enough to play whoever: you must remember our Hollywood-ized version of beauty and what was considered beauty back then are very different. For one, skinny was out. It was preferable to have meat, breasts and curves.

  • Thats true!

  • Secondly what constituted as a pretty girl was one who was dressed in the latest fashions in both hair and clothing had a very nice complexion and the perfect tiny lips. You see by looking well put together you were at average a pretty girl. And this is a time when natural beauty was preferred over makeup. And it's not like MAC was around the corner anyways.

  • The Jane in this version is perfect because if you look on book covers and paintings of the Napoleonic or Regency era SHE (Jane) resembles how those women looked.

  • I think a lot of times, which version is preferred is the one seen first. This version follows the book(including what the characters supposedly looked like) the best, due to length, probably. I actually liked Bridget Jones' Diary over the Knightly version. Colin Firth, in the role of Darcy, again, would be the reason.

  • The 2005 version is so much better to me!

  • No, no, no.

  • " she is tolerable I suppose, but not handsome enough to temp me!" one of my favorite lines- but it's so harsh!! lol

  • lol i agree tolerable i should using it in the real world n c what follows=ehhh lol

  • As Lady Catherine would have it 'This is all so very vexing!'

People keep comparing the different versions of Pride and Prejudice ... Why not enjoy what there is and celebrate the differences, not rip them apart...

BUT I must say I do prefer Colin and Jennifer's version...

As my daughter would say *woof woof* indeed :0)x

  • "Come dahcy. I must have you dance. I MUST."

I respect this very meticulous adaption, but in my mind, Darcy is too short, the secondary actors not what they could be, Mary too old to play it though she is a good actress, not as youthful and playful as Lizzy, and Jane's hair looks like a cake.

  • MARY IS SO UGLY!!! lol

  • this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is by far the best! Colin Firth is perfect as the brooding Mr Darcy! Yum

  • Elizabeth is sooo pretty :D

  • I ADORE Colin Firth and this particular role as Darcy, he's positively gorgeous!

  • I love this version a thousand times better than the movie one!!!!!! The only thing that bothers me is the actress playing Jane! She's supposed to be pretty but she's NOT! I love the Jane in the newest version. Sweet and pretty.

  • Colin Firth fills me with...mirth. Right. Mirth. Not lust. Not lust at ALL.

  • he is a brilliant darcy and this series really follows the book

  • I just finished this book and I am so scared to watch this version!!! I think Colin Firth will ruin my image of Darcy because he reminds me of my father!

  • Believe me, He is the best Darcy!

  • I love Pride and Prejudice 1995. Colin Firth simply magnificent in the role of Mr Darcy, and Dzhenefer El simply magnificent in the role of Elizabeth Bennet!

  • @QueenSerenity18 Dzhenefer? That's an interesting way of spelling it...

  • Comment removed

  • @LiteraryWriter her scent lingers in his nostrils?? :P I believe that it was her eyes that first captivated him, not her smell haha ;) I do love this scene!

  • I like both the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice and the newest version. Both Darcy's and Elizabeth's suit their roles.

Where do I find a Mr.Darcy? :'( * My boyfriend would role his eye's if he read this cause I constantly tell him how perfect Darcy is when I make him watch P&P with me XD *

  • why did ppl spam your comment?

  • oh Yes Colin Firth is really perfert!!!... this is much better than the film!!! XD

  • I own this version of P&P and I simply love it. Colin Firth is the perfect Mr. Darcy.

  • I'm with you I have seen all the P&P versions but this is simply the best and so is Mr. Darcy

  • Colin Firth is definitely the BEST British actor... I love his charm, his behaviour, his....everything. Handsome and absolutely charming :)

  • @trixy9

He is the ultimate Mr. Darcy! And one of my favorite actors!

  • darcy= dog at the beginning

  • CHarming.

  • The best Pride and Prejudice adaptation of all time! Perfection itself.

  • Comment removed

  • @LiteraryWriter are you gay? not to be insultive or anti -gay im just curious.

  • @LiteraryWriter and her glittery dark eyes

    *sighs* lol

  • this is a much more wonderful and accurate portrayal of jane austins book than the recent movie. and colin firth is so pretty.:)

  • Firth's the best Darcy I've seen. Seems more athletic that the other Darcys

  • Let's not forget Jennifer Ehje was gorgeous and great (guys opinion)

  • This makes me laugh every time.

  • love colin firth in this film,he's so handsome tho,..but just in this film

  • ooh I love Colin Firth ...so handsome ..his eyes just tell you everything his words don't say :P

  • Isn't it great that we can see BOTH versions. Just saw the 05 version again yesterday...love it...but you're right. The 95 version is the real deal.

  • matthew macfadyen was ridiculously attractive on screen as darcy, make no mistake, but i believe colin firth created the most faithful mr. darcy, and because of that he is attractive in the way that jane austen meant him to be, i think. of course, this is just my opinion.

firth has that attractiveness, not cuz he's young and hollywood, but because he really is a gentleman and acts like a gentleman. i'm always torn between the 95 and 05 versions. i like them for completely different reasons.

  • Jennifer Ehje was much more atractive (guys opinion) as well as a true portrayal of Lizy

  • oh mann mr darcy. lol

  • I can't find the version I watched. What I remember is the version I watched, is a film. Can anyone of you upload the part where the old lady, a girl, Elizabeth Bennet and Fritzwilliam Darcy in a private room for the debating of engagement (sort of that, qualification to become wife of Darcy)? By the mean of piano playing?

  • Best authors in the world. Anything written by Jane Austen (especially Pride and Prejudice), Elizabeth Peters (love Amelia Peabody), Kelly Morgan (A Case Of Murder), J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer. This movie rocks. Colin Firth is the perfect Mr. Darcy

  • Thats quite a narrow view of Authors you have there, wouldnt you put Thomas Hardy in ability with these Authors, or is he the wrong sex?

  • oy, this jane is anything but pretty. "handsome" is a good word for her I guess... oh man that was mean of me.. but its true.

  • Colin Firth is a FAR FAR better Mr Darcy !!!!!! He takes command of the screen

  • MATTHEW IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MR DARCY!!! :) :) :) he's so sweet :)

  • I love Mathew he was so cute and shy he's much better at being darcy

  • mathew was much better than colin, i completly fell in love with mr. darcy when i saw mathew playing it :D

  • i beg to agree, actually. back off lizzy he's mine!

  • I beg to differ, I like Matthew MacFadyen much better.

  • Colin Firth = best Mr. Darcy ever!!!

  • ha ha))) he doesn't like to be laughed at))) but he got what he deserved

  • I love how, instead of telling Darcy off, Elizabeth goes to Charlotte and does to Darcy what he did to her - talk behind his back. ;)

  • Wow, Darcy, what an ass. But we love you anyway.

  • does anyone know what order these clips go in? i can't work it out. is this the second one?

  • My sister has always said that and I always thought she was mad :-P Jane is much more beautiful in the BBC version. Jennifer Ehle is average looking IMHO

  • I like new version very much. and this seems not to be bad i think.

  • Why are people so against the 2005 film version? Sure this had some streagths over it but as a series, there was more time- I think the film had some streangths over this. Both good in my view.

  • I like this version, but I like Bingley in the newer version bettere. He seems softer, and more...cuddlier. ^^

  • Thou ShaltNotFear01- I know what you mean. I actually think Mr Collins was just as good, if not slightly better in the newer version. Mr Darcy was stronger in this though Matthew McFadyen was also convincing. I thought both versions were good in their own way.

  • Everything about this P@P is great, and even today women say i'm waiting for Mr Darcy.

  • I loved this. But Jane looked so, plain. The jane from the newer movie is muuuuch better. But Jennifer Ehle is the perfect Elizabeth Bennet, she just suits the character. I looved the mini series, and Colin Firth, plays the sexiest Mr.Darcy, yumm!

  • mr. darcy's stare is so smoldering!

  • This version is the best ever by far. The movie was nothing compared to this one. Keira Knightley is very low quality compared to Jennifer Ehle and Collin Firth is awesome. The very spirit of the book is here. I love the mother and Mr Collins too! Both are great!

  • I agree!

  • does anybody know where I can download this show? I love P&P! and I only know the newer version and the book. I`d love to watch this one..

  • I love this Pride and Prejudice, the movie just didn't do it justice.

  • This is the best filmed version of Pride and Prejudice in my opinion, too. :)
