question, do you always have to transmit the preset when you use redrum? for instance is their a way to already save the preset installed and get right into it? Also, how come when i play my chopped samples its all over the place. Is their a way to assign them in order?. thanks in advance.

I get the keyboard sound thr but when I load the preload #21 Reason Redrum the drum don’t come thr. I still get the keyboard sound when I hit the korg pad. But in Reason Redrum the drums work. Just need to get the drum sound thr into the Pad. Any idea anyone?

Dude love this video. Wicked beat as you make it look so easy. I just got my padkontrol and this video really helped me to get started. It would be awesome if you could upload a higher res video with the screen so we can make out what you are doing with the quantize stuff. But youtube sucks at high quality videos until just recently. nayways, tight video. Any chance you can make a video on how to use the quantize feature and about recording.

benji4783 - if u cant get the scene editor to work in redrum, fast way is to hit settings on the pk hit whatever pad u want to control and use the setting knob to select the instrument.

I had this problem producerskorner. My problem was I had changed the USB port it was in so I had to re-install the mdi drivers.

Make sure you've loaded the driver for the PadKontrol. Your preferences in the librarian software should have midi in set to part a and midi out set to ctrl.

Dude Stray info: I just got a padkontrol and im crazy unsatisfied with it. Only managed to get it to work with my keyboard, cannot get to work with computer. Everything is installed, usb wire, editor is running and a scene is loaded but still no sound. Also it didnt even come with a single bit of software besides the editor and driver. No reason,etc. hehe, let me know if you can help. Cant seem to get anything out of this thing. Nice videos by the way.

ya man i can help, i had same prob- no software right. listen, all u need to do is write korgs contact email on their website an tell em. or better yet, just google 'korg phone number' an give em a call. make sure u register your padkontrol on the korg site first tho so u show up in their system bro. they will then send u out the korg creative kontrol kit, which contains 6 programs to get u started. after that, just download the complete program torrents! good luk!

1. if in preferences u cant see Midi in: padKontrol 1 Port A . Midi out: padKontrol 1 CTRL = incorrect driver . dowload one form korg. 2. if you cant get the padkontrol to trigger redrum. in rack go to hardware device->adv midi device->then select channel 10.

3,. if in redrum you cant record any audio to the track then go to preferences-> keyboards and controllers->delete the existing korg+reinstall it as other-> keyboard NOT korg -> control surface.

Dude, I don't know if you can help me, but for some reason my computer decided to stop calling it "pad control port A" and instead refers to it as "USB Audio Device [2]."

Should I re-install the drivers? Since it isn't calling it port A, I can't change the scenes now. I did it yesterday, but not today.

If you are using Vista, I've heard a lot of problems with Vista "losing" your drivers. Try using a free program called "EasyFind" and search your file system for that driver then move it back to it's proper folder...

I put the licence key in thats on the disk holder for reason adapted you know the 6MX9-blah-blah-blah and so on and that doesnt work so it closes its self down.

If you're getting the transmit error, it's because either:

1. The pK driver is not installed/installer properly.

2. The ports are not set up correctly in the editor.

But you don't actually need to use the editor for this. To load the ReDrum scene...

1. Scene+Fixed Velocity.

2. Use the Encoder to select "P.21" and press Setting (Enter).

3. Use the Encoder to select the scene you want to save it to (like "S.01") and press Setting (Enter).

4. Press Setting again to get out of Settings mode.

Dude! Can you go into more details for those who are new to this!! Obviously you know your stuff and have many following, and I my self was blown away with your vids. But it is clear that many of us have the same problem when it comes to Loading all drivers and setting up the midi input and outputs and still get no sound even when transfering scenes to the padKontroller!

do what this guy said then go in reason and make sure you clicked on the Redrum red button in the bottom left window (of reason) and make sure the little mini keyboard is clicked on and highlighted. That way Reason knows what feature your trying to use.

Here's what i did to get mine working.

First I opened up Preferences>Advanced Control>Bus A:padKontrol Port A. Then Select ADV.Midi Device switch at the top of the rack. Select Bus A.Hit a pad to see which Midi Channel lights up.Select that channel and the Redrum 1 in. Now load scene 21 in to the editor as direected in the video. I'm on a Mac, but it should work for PC as well.

yea id get the Pad Kontrol cuz even tho the MPD24 is made by AKAI it doesnt really hve as many features. The pad kontrol has a builtin synch (or other effect) pad, looks more stylish and better roll Knob at the top, pad kontrol is more usefull AND funner and easier to use oh yea and the roll button is conviniant too haha beside AKAIS MPD 24 looks ugly haha

I'll post a vid on how to fix this. But for now, you can load the ReDrum preset right from the pK.

Hold down Scene and press the Fixed Velocity button...the display will say ALL. Turn the data wheel to get to P21 and hit Setting. Then select S01 (Scene 1) and hit Setting again.

this maybe a dumb question but im a newbie.. how do you record by just hitting the pad a few times and it keeps playing. when I record in reason i have to play it the whole way through or copy and paste it to make it longer.

Use the red 'Record' button on the transport bar (or wherever you've assigned record to on your PadKontrol). Set it loop and when you've finished inputing your pattern the loop will playback via midi, exactly what it is that you punched in.

Drag the L/R locators to the amount of bars your pattern is (you can adjust the sensitivity at the top of the screen), make sure the loop on/off is selected on the transport, hit record, and play away!
