  • Never would have believed maple syrup and soy sauce would taste so great together! Thanks for a great recipe. I tried this tonight, had trouble with the new propane tank on the grill, so I pan fried it. It was wonderful. Can't wait to try it again on the grill. BTW, I'm not good at all cooking fish of any kind and this got great reviews from my family. It's a keeper!

  • I don't know why so many people give American cooking a hard time and say that it sucks. I've seen it listed in a whole bunch of shitty top 10 lists of 'worst cuisine in the world' etc. and that's so unjustified.

  • whats the point of cooking the salmon on the griddle pan then placing it o the grill? Cant you just place it on the grill straight away?

  • Ran out of propane so I made the maple syrup marinade and put the salmon and marinade in a glass baking dish into an oven at 475. Came out moist, juicy and flavorful. My wife and kids finished their plates. I can't wait to try it on the grill once I get some more propane. But at least I know it comes out great in the oven too. The soy sauce cuts down the sweetness of the syrup so it is not too sweet.

  • u want those things u love about salmon? go to a sushi bar and eat it raw, u may never want to eat it cooked again , (raw leaves in all the flavor and nutrients

  • I usually approach salmon fillet a little bit differently. Well, less seasoning, keeping it really pure. Salt, pepper and butter. And lemon if you want.

  • Not so sure about maple syrup sauce with salmon - I prefer to use dill and lemon and olive oil myself, but I just might try this for a change.

  • welcome back yankeessuck309, black iron pans have been around since the 1800's, are heavy duty, can take high heat, can be placed in the coals, clean up easy, and last a life-time. It don't get any better than that. -BBQ Pit Boys

  • most fish we leave as is, maybe a little garlic butter, salt, and pepper added. But, Salmon in our opinion needs a bit more, maybe a special sauce that dominates the natural taste. -BBQ Pit Boys

  • Hmmm, just a follow up and will for sure try the maple thing, but for once and only this once do I disagree with or better said "differ" with your statement. Just meaning, that to me... Salmon is one of those fish that really has a unique flavor where many types of fish can be a bit bland.. I guess white fishes like cod or halibut etc.. but here in the N.W. we obviously get the great Alaskan King, Sockeye and others and I myself enjoy that natural taste...

  • Hey Doomer79, thanks again for stoppin' on by. You may have read a bit more into my comment than justified. Fresh NW Salmon is one of my favorite fish to do on the grill for sure. But if i'm doing fresh brook trout, or large mouth bass, north Atlantic cod, ETC i don't add much but butter garlic, and S&P. That awesome delicate taste of this type of fish needs nothing more. But Salmon with it's distinct flavor does well with sauces on the fillet, steak or on the side. Either way, it's good eatin'

  • just made the salmon and garlic sauce. the garlic sauce can be used on any vegetable. I even left the butter out!

  • Where did you get your flat square iron pan? The only one I can find in stores looks just like yours except it has ridges on the surface. Any brand suggestions or web sites?
