That eye shown in the early part of the film is the eye of Horus, not Ra. In the mythology of Ra, the story of his eye relates to when he sent his eye out, which took the form of a goddess ( variable ones in different versions ) called Hathor, against a rebellion. The Cow Goddess Hathor then rushed through the rebellion, trampling it in her path. Ra's eye was never in the form shown as Horus' eye, but as a goddess instead. I still don't fully understand how I held the contradictory views that are necessary to the Christian worldview in my own mind when I was a Christian.
