@platinumsalamander They said it was probably due to material from old wartime munitions that was already in the water. When the aircraft was resting under water it collected some of that on its surfaces.
@platinumsalamander They did, the wreckage picked up the residue when it was laying at the bottom of the Sea..There was explosive residue at the bottom of the ocean due to many wars fought over the North Sea.
testpress titanium alloys composite materials doesn't grow on trees u know. plus to fabricate these materials is very expensive and goes threw long processes. No matter what the cost is just get the genuin cuz there is a reason why it is that shape, that material and that versitile.
@warhammer39m, Yes better parts are going to cost more money but don't be naive, It's the same with all mechanical parts whether it's an aircraft, a motorbike, a car or anything else. The main dealers often make better parts than anywhere else but they charge ridiculous prices because they 'can' as buyers are forced to pay whatever the manafacturers want to charge to get the required quality.
holmie it's very difficult to build these screws, the metal passes to a lot of processes and the metal of the screw have to be very strong to carry a tail weight and keep it flying at more than 20000 feet, so it's too much pressure and it have to be strong, authentic.....
@testpress Its a bolt and nut assembly and let me tell you as a HD mechanic that parts are not cheep no matter what it is for things on the ground let alone the aviation industry. think about it
I can't see how there's any excuse for airplane parts costing so damn much, except that they have a monopoly of sorts. Gotta do it though bc the fake stuff doesn't cut it..
Short of a safer airline industry, seems the big winner here was the catering company, who demanded payment BEFORE takeoff. I wonder if the pilot families were reimbursed or did the company get a free ride, so to speak
i still believe some people still use bogus parts today in aviation, hasnt completely disappear!
