It's easier for kids to get weed than it is for them to get alcohol; The dealer doesn't care how old you are. Drugs have also gotten cheaper since the drug war because demand has been met and flooded by black marketeers.
The main problem is that we're filling up prison with mostly non-violent drug offenders...and I'm paying for it with my tax dollars.

The efforts of the DEA and law enforcement agencies has done nothing over the past 30 years to stop drug use in America...and the people who really like prohibition are the drug dealers making profits off of it.

@Mikeanglo They do send people to treatment. Some already use that as a way to keep their addictions at an affordable cost. They get caught, rehab, then go back to using for cheaper cuz it takes a less amount to get high after rehab. Then they repeat.
Also they have done a lot over the past 30 years to stop drug use in the US... There will always be someone to replace a drug dealer on the street, which is while the DEA is attacking the sources such as Afghanistan and other places.

That's how we learn about the properties of the drugs from various locations and seeing as the DEA and CIA have international jurisdiction then they would be the ones to retrieve it. If the product is legal the invladed prohibition time value of the product would be destroyed - just as the flood of Afghan heroin destroyed the market prices in the past 8 years due to it input while demand didn't grew which value to drop to 1/10. It just basic rules of economics and the action of the DEA helps to restore the old value, which of cause increase the revenue of the feared terrorists again. Just as Afghans switch from poppy to cannabis as it yields better on the market.

You realize that taking 3 tons of hash or opium off the drug market or whatever the DEA seizes will not affect the entire crop's price, but in turn will affect the profit for a short period of time until the dealer finds another outlet for growing because of the vast amount of dealers in Afghanistan/Pakistan. You're right, it's not the Afghan people's fault, it's al Qaeda and the Taliban that use the regular people as puppets for their larger monetary gain.

So like with the oil price, a little bit off bad news can screw the entire market. So even the lousy 3t will have their impact, even if it just pychological one that will let the value of afghan hash rise. And it will produce new Taliban once again.

Afghanistan produces over 95% of USA's heroin. Catching dealers in America doesn't stop it, so we go there to stop it. Even if we're making it extremely valuable, that makes it less attractive for personal use. They'd get the money from selling it to a few people for a lot or a lot of people for a little bit of money. And if you cared so much, you'd also know that the money our addicts send to Afghanistan is bettering the entire country. They get millions from us, if not billions.
