and talking to vance didnt work, an i did that NUMEROUS times, and not once did it let me ask about ian or bring up the letter. i tried every dialogue and not one convinced him, well, the speech one impressed him, but he still never coughed up that fuckin password!

I totally did this back asswards. I went in shooting everyone, which made it impossible to beat them all. So I think I will just have to start over :)

I accidentaly killed the guard, but I didn't know it would be such a Problem until I entered the city and the Family started to cap my ass, I was forced to kill all of their cannibal asses, I though that was the normal course of the quest, then I found out it was because I killed the guard and reloading my game wasn't an attractive option then as I would lost 2 hours of gameplay.

talk to the hoocker and tell her u just want to be his friend then the guys wife shell give you the password and u give him the letter pickpocket the guy with the coat steal his key and take the sword and schamatics thats what i did :)

DAAHH!!... you didn't take the stimpacks... or the purified waters... OR the bottlecaps... and you didn't talk to vance long enough to learn how to get +20 hp from a bloodpack instead of 1

search everone you killed you should find a password use the password to hack the computer and unlock the door. Hope this helped

if u dont have lady kill than you can just talk to vince, u can say anything regarding ian (but try to be nice) save than talk to him again only click the nice comments than it'll say let me see ian with a speach skill and just keep trying and reloading untill he lets you see him.

yah i had done that, it was really wierd.. I just ended up talking talking to everyone seeing if i missed anything, didn't see anything new, after around 15 minutes of walking back and forth looking for a key it finally gave me a new option when talking to vince (which was to ensure him that I was not like all other wastelanders). I had talked to him many times before but never had that option... weird.

yea, but notice when It's night all doors in Megaton/Rivet city-market door is locked too.
