Good command voice. I recommend to people to keep their non-baton hand up where you're elbow is to them. It's a good fending stance when you're at "baton ready" and the subject is being combative and you know something is going to cook off.
The comments here generally fall into two categories, those who worship people in uniform, and those who hate them.
The reality is cops are people like anyone else, some a great officers, others are just criminals with a badge. As long as cops respect my rights, I will respect them. What I do not respect is cops who abuse their powers.
@edjthompson Ya,in a police state. They get thoise young recruits all amped up on this shit and they look for a reason to tase, beat, and harass...if your a cop,...well... fuck off.
@edjthompson Ya I can see how your getting the point...look fuckhead these fuckin cops are out of control with the excessive force they are using on the general public...they brag about it to one another.need to be any clearer on the subject...now as I said before, grow a pair bitch dont depend on the po po to be there if the boogieman scares you...stand the fuck up for yourself weesleboy
@SuperOldfart1 I would stand up for myself if there was any need to, in this case there clearly isn't. The police are doing exactly what we pay them to do. The term 'brutality' gets thrown about far too much these days when cops are clearly just doing their job. A lot of the time it isn't pretty, but it's what they do, and they do it very well
@edjthompson oh yeah, they do it real well...to damn well for my liken. Most cops in this country are little bitches that were picked on as kids. Now you see them, head all shaved up lookin like the nazi pricks that they are, oh we need police...a world without them would be a mess, its their tactics like this bullshit in this vid that pisses me off...They feed on it, and if you believe they dont your a damn fool.
@SuperOldfart1 They learn these tactics because it is part of their job. Its the same reason a doctor learns how to read a pulse, or a firefighter learns how to climb a ladder. Without skills like these, police would be completely useless.
@edjthompson WHAT?You are one lost puppy...are you fucking 10years old or what?Just wait till a family member(i/e.child,spouse) gets perm.damage from one of these bastards...ya it wont be all love for these bitches then, will it ej?Hittin a motherfucker in the windpipe is not the way to control people douchebag...christ o mighty they got stun guns and shit for that...
@SuperOldfart1 That won't happen because my family don't go out breaking the law. Actually, hitting people in the windpipe is an extremely effective way of controlling people. Different tactics for different scenarios. The police must be prepared for whatever scumbags throw at them. They're not saying they're going to use this tactic all the time, just when the situation calls for it. Use your common sense.
@edjthompson motherfucker Im a law abiding, tax paying citizen...I wonder how many tax dollars goes to paying slimmy lawyers fees and comphensation for these nazi's actions. These bastards need the shit beat out of them, and sounds like you do to.
@edjthompson only life them bitches is worried about saving is their own, believe that...the public is a afterthought with these morons. But then thats the difference between people that tell and people that are told...keep do'n what your told...bitch and lay on your back for the police state
This is literally THE WORST technique to use with a baton. The baton is supposed to be a non lethal/less lethal option. By collapsing the guys windpipe/rupturing the carotid arteries, you might as well save him the trouble of bleeding out and just shoot him. I can already see the lawsuits rolling in for any police officer who uses this technique.
@kw498. How often does " YOUR " house burn down??? yet you still own a fire extinguisher... its called being prepared for the worst but living for the best.
Roll a newspaper section up real tight and swat hell out of the back of someone's leg. Or the side of their head. It doesn't take a police baton to screw you up. If you're in a position that you think is vulnerable, there are usually many weapons within arm's reach that most people overlook. Ever been hit with a coffee mug used as a cudgel? Break a dinner plate and you have a ceramic blade. Pot of stew on the stove. Assaulted while pumping gas? Use the nozzle in your hand and spray him down.
Oh Im sure it still has sting to it. Had someone smack me last week with one of those plastic twist rods from a set of vinyl mini-blinds. Damn, I swear, that hurt like hell. Amazing what kind of things can quickly become weapons if the need arises. Btw, my friend was playing around, but ouch. :-)
Im sure you mean police officer as the only people who call them pigs are assholes who dont know how to live in civilized society and obey the laws. In that case however, that makes you the pig, yes??
@gleader LOL,, Ya I can tell by your intelligent use of English that I should certainly take your comment seriously. Ya, I really think you are the loser here you moron.
Im sorry but your Wrong... there is also the Modadnock,Duratec, and others which i cant remember now.. but ASP is the most Famous baton because of there great products...
I didn't say they were THE only 1. There are others that make expandable batons. I was saying that ASP is the company, not the type of baton. read more carefully next time.
what are you asking? the differences between a standard stick baton? the ASP extends and is top quality and not a cheep china import that will fall apart after a few uses. there pricy but if your an LEO there a valuble piece of equiptment.
This is a good demonstration of how the baton can and does bridge the gap between a pain compliance device and deadly force. The baton is both, it just depends on where your hitting the bad guy at.
The auxiliary police concept is the most retarded thing invented in law enforcement. It's a double edged sword. For one thing, APO's aren't armed, yet they are out there with a uniform on screaming "target!" for anyone who wants to hurt cops. On the other side, they shouldn't be armed because they do not have to go through not even close to half of what real PO's train for, so they do not deserve that priveleage, which is an awesome one. You can't give any Joe who decides to "volunteer" a gun..
Actually this was an OPOTA(Ohio Police Officer Training Association) Police Academy, where these cadets under went 9 months of vigorous training(almost double the hours required by law) Im not sure about the "auxiliary police concept" as we don't have those around here. We do have "reserves" which are real police officers and undergo the same amount of training as other officers they just are not receiving compensation. This is a way for many officers to get a foot in the door.
Just a question, is college education required for getting into law enforcement? I have no plans to go to college, but I would love to be a police officer!
I don't what your definition of an auxiliary police officer is.. but I was an auxiliary police officer for a year and a half. I DID have to go through the academy. I did the job for a year and a half for free. The only difference is now I get paid for doing the same job in the same place.
Okay maybe do a little reading before you shoot your mouth off. SOME auxiliaries don't carry guns. MOST do. ALL go through an academy. Most have the exact same powers of arrest the full timers do, and most do patrols exactly like the full timers do in a marked cruiser responding to the same calls.

@interpol007 Man, I hate to use this phrase, but you hit the nail squarely on the head. All the riot baton training I received to become a Correctional Officer stated simply that NO STRIKES were to be delivered to the cervical, cranial, or front of throat. All strikes were to be of a downward motion against the clavicle or upper biracial nerve right below the shoulder or even a stabbing thrust to the ribs. Your 2 cents would convert into millions of $'s in federal court in restitution.
@ohiobowhunter Strange. In Florida, we're trained to not use lethal strikes with a baton. You target joints and soft tissue... not throats. So, you have an interesting concept of a very well executed technique. If you're going to use lethal techniques with a baton, you may as well unholster your duty weapon.
@twistedcross thats my thoughts as well, he would be dead from a hit like that. i would also not consider that a properly executed technique, yes maybe the movement was there but not the accuracy needed to be effective in controlling the enemy.
