  • I think I saw Sick Note!!!

    (London's Burning)

  • londons burning series 10

  • Great vid mate! The problem causing the smoke is: A brake that is stuck. The Brakedisc overheats and starts smoking like this.

  • awwwwhhhs poor darlin hst :(

  • I thought MTU's were not supposed to clag. Yes its a joke for those with no sense of humour as the smoke is due to a failed traction motor (not to mention that the smell makes your eyes water). The motor on my Dapol Class 153 model had a fault and burnt out due to rotor lock which smouldered the bodyshell where the motor was mounted. Anyways nothing bad happened apart from a few peeved off passengers running late and everyone got off the train safely :).

  • Traction Motor's commutator flashes across to earth basicly, normaly caused by dirt and carbon brush dust inside the motor. The commutator being made of copper basicly melts / burns when it happens and everything basicly desinigrates into a big mess!

  • I HAVE HEARD OF CLAG BUT THIS IS SILLY LOL

  • @hstscotsman Nothing to do with a hot box. If it was, it would have to be removed from the train on a wheel skate at 5mph. Thats a typical TM flashover. You can hear it popping and banging as it went past.

  • @formidable38 what's a TM flashover?

  • Excellent footage, looks like distributor on the power car was stuck, thus causing the brakes to rub, isolate distributor on that bogie make sure the brake blocks aren't rubbing, do a brake test and away you go.

  • Interesting that from about 1:22s it sounds like an "all electric", anyone explain that?

  • @goodchappy Traction motors whining !

  • @MK55A Don't normally hear that because of the engine noise. They sound like EE507s

  • Couldn't have happened to a nicer MTU.

  • The fire on the back power car served the MTU right for replacing the british vals we used to have!

  • Was it caused by the brakes sticking and a huge build up of friction? Thats a common cause of a train to catch fire. "Hot axle box" more commonly known as...

  • looked like a traction motor on fire or something there, lol

  • [url=583695.spreadshirt.de[/url]

  • I seem to remember that it was 3 phase cables burnt out, 1 had sustained a trauma and shorted across to the other 2, nothing too serious,

  • I'm assuming this was running on an MTU lump?

  • Interesting stuff. Was it delaid much. was at Didcot last week. Thanks

  • Great vid! Was she continuing the service or heading for liara depot?

  • @HSTcallum not a clue. seeing as passengers were detrained and it were ecs in the end under 1 powercar i guess they were off to a depot of some sort! thanks.

  • @HSTcallum its in didcot.......why would it pass bristol st phillips marsh to get to laira

  • @HSTcallum I would have thought it would goto the nearest maintenanance depot, which from Didcot, would be Old Oak Common???

  • ouch poor FGW HST :)

  • Great catch do you know what was the cause of the fire?

  • @justinfoulger nope

  • @zaccee1996 judging i work with locos on the ELR it looks like the traction motors have caught fire, either from overload from the driver thrashing it too much :)

  • @55022RSG LOL

  • @55022RSG I bet Traction motor overloads and fire's are common place for you then with ELR's driver's lol.

  • Jeeez! Ooer I was on a HST that day, think it was the service before this one lol

  • OMG! EXCELLENT! call it, HST on fire! should get more views

  • @HSTHoward thanks howard

  • forgot to put that is one claggy hst my lordz
