Singapore Airlines is the best and always will be!!!:):):):D:D:D <3<3<3 Best safety record and I love the fucking music, where do you get the music from???
Man this video takes for ever!! when i watched it on SIA i couldn't be bothered watching it after a while!!! tHEY SO NEED TO MAKE A NEW & SHORTER ONE!!
@Awertization Yeah, Singapore Airlines was meant to start flying from CHC-SIN everyday starting from March this year but because of the earthquake no tourists want to come here now....so they will continue to fly here 5 days a week :( :(
I LOVE SINGAPORE AIRLINES. i think that both the new and old saftey videos are good, but singapore airlines ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD. that music brings back memorys. ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! SIA the best. i cant wait to go on an A380!!!!!
i was going to singapore on sq1 from san francisco, everyone around me got cookies (breakfast time before landing in hong kong at 7 in da mornin) so when i went to the kitchen and asked for some, the man yelled at me and said NO we dont have any cookies and there was a box of cookies right there
windows shades are up because, in case of an emergency, people (police/firefighters etc) can check if there is still any one trying to leave the aircraft. (Air Steward)
I had fun playing around on my Cousin's private jet with the automated announcements including the emergency one. We installed a IFE system with seatback monitors with Airshow. We customized airshow to show estimated time of take off estimated time of arrival at gate, estimated customs clearance time at destination etc.
You all must understand that this video was released in 2001-2002. Almost 7 years ago. SIA has already filmed the new safety video which includes the cabin products and the new uniform for the stewards. Should be out by the end of this year.
a very proper and organized video i would say for SIA. the essential safety information is in there and i think SIA deserves the credit to have straight forward info on safety unlike other airlines. this video reflects the organized singaporean life.
thai airways on the other hand is also another good video reflecting their country's specialty.
come on... thought SG is supposed to be the best?! what happened to that "number 1 in asia" thing? aren't we supposed to raise the bar of standards here?!
I agree with zzesb. delta, southwestern and NZD. watch it!
@airbusrated6 the 300ER has 5 emg exits it could only be a 200 due to no o/w exit here :)
But look at the video again - they show different a/c models one place it has 4engines another place 2 I think it is an overall video for the entire fleet.
it really is a 777-200 that is departing to indonesia or malyasia or taking off frim there . Its a 777, at the end the aircraft flying represents what aircraft and the emergency exits door picture also showed a 777
On my 5 and 13 hour flights, I loved this video. Whenever I see this video, it makes me think back about when I was in Europe. To gary747pilot: People panic and do not understand to remain calm or what to do in an emergency situation. A very safe video.
because depending on the impact... it may jerk the spine... this position puts the spine into the best position for pressures onto the spine. Also helps with less whiplash should there been any.
because when the aircraft land it may jerk and jolt hard, and in turn will cause spinal damage, but if you are i nthe brace positoon which is a foetal position ur protecting all of your organs, plus the seats on board the aircraft, when the aircraft land hard and jolts the seat back will fall forward giving your back support and protection.
I really like the service of Singapore Airlines. I always love flying, especially the routes between Hong Kong and San Francisco (SQ 1, 2) once a year...
Even though it is an overnight flight, the service is still very good.
If a passeneger, even an illiterate first time traveller, has successfully gone through the process of booking and paying for a ticket, arranging transportation to the airport, checking in luggage at the counter, passing immigration, customs and security screens, finding the boarding gate and entering the aircraft correctly... I think the same person has enough IQ to figure out the intricate mechanics of a setbelt!!!
1. Airlines are required to say so because of international law
2. If a passenger forgets that he needs to lift the buckle (as opposed to a car-like seatbelt) and the plane crashes, he or she must instantly know how to unbuckle the seatbelt or he could die in a fire
Passengers need to be told, and have the point hammered, how to work a seatbelt in case of emergency. The horse must be beaten to a pulp.
The reason is because people are used to car seatbelts and airplane seatbetls are completely different. When a Plane has an emergency or crash, passengers will panic, They will assume and revert back to the IDEA that an Airplane seatbelt works exactly the same way as a car's seatbelt. Constantly pushing down for the release button rather then flipping the hatch. So FAA regulations requires all safety demo to have a demo in how to fasten and unfasten the seatbelt.
a disaster response team member recalled that, at a plane crash rescue that he participated, all the passengers had their bodies dissembled into three large chunks, because their seatbelt cut through the body during the fatal crash....
Come on man, do you honestly believe people will be thinking "Oh this is so much different than a car seatbelt... I lift up the buckle and not press the belt button. Wow".
If a person has enough IQ to get to the airport, go through customs and immigration, have common sense to pack correctly as to not be detained by airport security... I think the same person can muster enough intelligence to realize the intriquate workings of today's technologically advanced airplane seatbelt.
its not my hypothesis, its the FAA regulations perception. FAA did studies and found from passengers who survived a plane crash were constantly pressing for the release button rather then flipping the hatch. Also you have to take into consideration of those who rarely or may have never flown before.
CACZBE900, Chinese people hold an ethnic majority, but we speak English as our first language. We are a multi-cultural country that speaks many languages.
that and due to the fact that Korean Air will daily service into CANADA. The Canadian Government has always had a protectionist rule against SQ. They kicked them out of Toronto and only gave SQ 3X flights a week into YVR. Hopefully SQ will return to YVR
It is also very hard to have High Yield loads when your only allowed 3x flights a week. Passengers want daily flights and that was why SQ kept fighting the Canadian Gov for ever since 2007. I guess with the economic crises, SQ had to pull out after so many years of service.
Singapore Airlines excels in what it does. Its standards remain one of the highest and most exacting in the industry and it is emulated, feared and despised probably in equal measure by its many competitors. Coming up trumps has become something of a habit for the airline, and little wonder. I can imagine that for many traveling executives where flying is more work hazard than genuine pleasure, booking a Singapore Airlines flight means at very least - knowing what to expect.
It is a decent safety video nonetheless, with sign language included in the video for the deaf. But, if this video could cut down on unnecessary instructions and make it more concise, I bet this would have been the best.

Why is it that the airline industry still feel obliged on telling their passengers HOW to work a seatbelt?

Isn't the phrase "fasten your seatbelt" self-explanatory enough?
