That's the thing that makes her so iconic, she's has a good voice, great dancing. BUT she has a way of forcing the attention onto her - lasting for three decades now. It's hard to explain how she reinvented herself...you sort of how to listen to her music. An exampleis how she went from house/new jack swing/lounge/(Erotica) album to a R&B, more urban feel(Bedtime Stories) to a more electronic album(Ray of Light). Most artists disappear because they don't reinvent themselves.

My boss doesn't know anything about Lady Gaga, well at least her music, he heard of her. When he was listening to the song he said "Oh it's Madonna", he was completely serious too. I think that is impartial you can get, someone who doesn't listen to Lady Gaga confusing her song with another artist that he grew up with.

@bowlinggod702 No way Gaga will last as long as Madonna has. For one thing, Gaga is talentless and lacks fresh ideas so she just goes for what is gaudy. For another, the music industry functions differently now and constantly promotes new faces but keeps them up only for a short while. Gaga will just fade away in a year or two in order to be replaced by the next short-lived sensation.

That's the thing that makes her so iconic, she's has a good voice, great dancing. BUT she has a way of forcing the attention onto her - lasting for three decades now. It's hard to explain how she reinvented herself...you sort of how to listen to her music. An exampleis how she went from house/new jack swing/lounge/(Erotica) album to a R&B, more urban feel(Bedtime Stories) to a more electronic album(Ray of Light). Most artists disappear because they don't reinvent themselves.

Lets make this 100% clear, I'm not talking about Lady Gaga's music. Gaga has illusions of originality. Her style, the way she acts in public, the way she dresses - it's a publicity stunt, a way to get attention - what really disturbs me is not only that it works, but how people (including Gaga) thinks she is original for it. I think The Key of Awesome's parody of Born This Way sums up Lady Gaga to a 'T'.

While she was making a movie, going on world tours, influencing America to wear bows, lace, gloves, etc., Lady Gaga was still playing with rattles. They're a little similar, but i do believe the beat and melodies are very very different. I do prefer born this way, but i think all fans (of madonna and/or lady gaga) need to cool down. My boss doesn't know anything about Lady Gaga, well at least her music, he heard of her. When he was listening to the song he said "Oh it's Madonna", he was completely serious too. I think that is impartial you can get, someone who doesn't listen to Lady Gaga confusing her song with another artist that he grew up with.
