Believe it or not, he turned 40 this year. He got a late start in his wrestling career, and isn't all that flexible. Going over the rope backwards is a hard thing to do. It is very easy to hurt yourself. He Hesitated, and made a mistake. It happens. he could have sold it a little better, but mistakes happen.

Then realised 'crap, I'm meant to be eliminated now', so rather than use common sense, he jumps over himself.
