@HamdhanA330 on a plane like that , everything is spendy,,airframe =1,200-1,700 motor = 2,500 -3,500 depending on with one? electronics and batts 400.00 it adds up quick, my at6 war bird i have about 3,000 invested in that..
@fastestcararound True...I wanted to spend around $50 for my plane parts (Motor, Prop, Tx/Rx, LiPo, ESc, Servos etc) but I ended up spending like $300
@XRayCam I feel your pain but not his. I could not fathum the loss he felt. I'm sure the engins were fine and most of the gear was fine but the rest might be done.
Tragic crash of a beautiful model. I still can't figure out how he spent $6k on a non-turbine plane. Lets say the kit was $800, the engine $2k, electronics (not including Tx) $500, supplies $100. It doesn't add up for me anyway. Still, I believe the price you got from the owner. Thanks for the vid. Peace. - Rob
@Partok81 $800.00 for the airframe? You have been looking at the Tower Hobbies catalog too many times. A 35% Carf or Composit airframe starts out at about $3000.00. Turbine are also expensive (I own one with a Jetcat P80.
@Partok81 if it is one of the ARF versions they go for $2-$3000 then you have radio servos gyros and engine. and those engines arent cheap. not as bad as a turbine but not dime a dozen either. If it was a stick and fiberglass kit those are $3-$4000 a piece so yea it adds up quick. when my dad and flew together years ago we used to look at a crash as kind of a good thing. we always had a bunch of different kits in the attic so we would destroy one and crawl in the attic and grab the next kit.
@Trivon902:24 "Now you see that dark line at the other side of the flying field about shoulder height of the 2 guys? From there the ground is about 12 inches higher than the flying field. Keep that in mind."
that is a walk of sham that is 100% and i am a plane flyer too and much more funnier crashes have happened to me with my private jets and my rc palnes
Unfortunately, that's part of the hobby. What goes up will always come down, just sometimes not in a planned or controlled fashion. I'm sure the guy was trying not to cry, but I'm also sure he later rebuilt and kept on flying.
@nolandew1 Yeah I don’t get mad if I crash one of my foamy pusher jets. I just laugh and hope I got it on video. Then go home and fix it. Hell I've even crashed my big PT-40 Nitro Fuel plane and laugh (it was fixable) but with that big ass pane with expensive gear in it I would have been kickin my own ass.
for those against big planes ,,just dont forget ,,for some 6 k is just like 6 dollars ,so it may not have done much damage to his finances,,the issue is if it cost 600 k if you dont fly it right ,it will be worth scrap.
Funny thing about that Sun flower. I hit it on approach with me left wing tip. It spun around 3 times in the air. then nose dived right on the engine spinner. broke the motor mount and was still running. taxied it over to me and was rattling around in the cowling. I used carbon fiber leading edges, only a small dent on it.
I don't see a 6k plane here. maybe 3k, the kit and motor are around $2500, toss in some servos and RX, the motor is probably fine. so he is just out a plane. next it would be good idea to walk the area first. shit I hit a sun flower that was 7' tall. looked shorter till you walk up to it.
@WizzRacing I am just relaying what I was told as for cost. Yes you should walk the field if you are not familiar with it. As for the Sunflower, that is funny (but it stil sucks).
@atreewithnolife I seen a dude with a heli about 10min after that air plane crash, just drive a $600.00 helli in to the ground during his practice but I failed to get that on video.
