What does he mean? why did no other Romanians compete?

Many of the gyms in Romania had closed down because of the revolution the year before. This was when the country was in transition from overthrowing the communist government.

I've also read the book... very interesting and insightful...although appaulingly bad english in it makes it difficult to understand sometimes.

I WISH the author, Andrei Nourescu had not been so arrogant about his atrocious level of English and asked a native speaker for some help before he published it to an English Market!

You think so? I always thought of Gogean as more reserved as she got older. I also like that her dance became more conservative when she got older because it shows a level of maturity that suited her longevity in the sport.

That double turn is just so cute. She can end her floor routine with a full-in (at 13 y/o), but she can't do two spins on carpet! So precious.
