Amen! I'm glad it' getting played too and not just gathering dust at some Hard Rock. Too important a guitar hang above a bunch of tourists paying too much for a hamburger that don't even know how important it is.
tang, several years ago, marty was playing a local club. i went out the back door to his bus and the door was wide open. there were a couple of people on the bus...and there on the couch was marty's telecaster. i asked if i could take a look at it...and the GUY HANDED IT TO ME!!!!! i was absolutely stunned. it was amazing to hold that guitar, and being a guitar player myself made me appreciate the history behind that guitar even more.
ya know ive met the great mr.stewart twice here in grande prairie alberta, and one of the coolest catts there is no doubt! and course every pudgy little toe was tappin them nights, rockabiily on Marty!
You are so right! And I am not even American. Somebody should take his DNA and preserve it in a vault for the day country music has forgotten what it once used to be.
His life on this earth must be a gift from above.
Marty is Pure- Americana ! He's part Chocatow Indian, played bluegrass as a teen with Lester Flatt, joined Johnny Cash's band, married his daughter, Cindy, until they divorced. Played in Pentecostal Churches, gospel music with the Sullivan Family. He 's a rock-n-roller, blues-cat-daddy, Guitar wizard, musical genius, loves USA, proud of JESUS, loves his wife-Connie Smith, and is keeping REAL Country Music & the Grand Ole Opry, AlIVE !!!
marty and his band kick ass. I love watching them on rfd tv. it reminds me of when i was a kid watching glen campbell's good time hour, buck owen's show and heehaw. This is country the way it should be played.
I believe I could listen to Marty Stuart play guitar - THAT guitar - from now until the day I die. Nobody's cooler, and nobody's tastier with the B-bender. He doesn't "yank" it...he just glides into those bends and it sounds so good. He's a national treasure, in my opinion, for all he does (and how he does it).
I've said this before but it's sure nice to see that Clarence White's old Tele isn't gathering dust on some wall in some HardRock Cafe somewhere. Marty is giving that guitar exactly what it needs.
The real deal! Pickin fools!
