@hozehd The real reason behind them being taken off the list is because it is seen as a sport among... certain groups of people. Killing a wolf is seen as a status symbol. Take deer for example, they are hunted for the same reasons and none of them are because it's a matter of life or death or of lively-hood, or any of that other bullshit. The only thing taken from deer are the antlers.

The vast majority of deer are killed for their antlers and the corpses are left in the woods, it is even becoming a problem because it is impacting the way the bears behave during those hunting seasons.

@Starry2000 I might agree that there is no magic number at which you can say wolves need a natural predator but there seems to be a lot of evidence that wolves are doing very well in the us since reintroduction. When something on the endangered species list is eating ALL of your cattle then its not all that endangered, and you shouldn't get in trouble for killing it.

OH FREAKING COME ON. The wolf populations are doing pretty good. Take it from us indians. We don't know how exactly, but some species like foxes are rebounding. We think they are learning and adapting to human influence. Humans have been a windfall for skunks and raccoons. There are some species that are faring worse like the martens and the fishers and we are concerned about the wolverine. These are animals that most people aren't aware exist.
