  • What an amazing woman!!! R.I.P.

  • I couldn't believe this happened in such a small town like Antigonish! My daughter works at this university and like Ottilia found it hard to make friends. As a mother now, she has begun to establish some friendships through her child's activities. Please open your arms to "the outsiders" and make them feel a part of your community. It is time to stop being a town of "familiar strangers".

  • I am from this town and this was totally shocking to hear. This lady was so inspiring

and she was an excellent role model for every young girl. Otilia was a strong black woman and really didn't have to die like this.. It makes me sick to just think her own husband could do such a thing this breaks my heart I hope he rots in Hell... I couldn't get this wonder lady off my mind for days. Father God please watch protect and guide her children in the name of jesus I pray..

  • Thanks fpr making this....what a sin to have someone who has worked so hard to be taken away in the manner that she was..I saw a lot of familiar strangers on there myself...

  • Rest in Peace Mama, you are truly an inspiration..what a wicked world..ur own husband taking your life!!! God will surey punish himm..My condolences to the family..!

  • May your soul rest in peace...mama Otilia...you have inspired me..a young Zimbabwean girl!...Education is the way to go!!

  • 0:44 and 7:17 Those are my aunt, uncle and cousin XD

This woman was clearly a insparation... She will be missed!

  • thank u for posting this video, very inspiring.

  • Im saddened. such an amazing woman. MHDSRIP

  • Wow to think she lived in my town for the last ten years and never once did I meet this incredible women. She will however be forever missed by all who knew her. Her poor children, my heart goes out to them. Her soul may not be with us anymore, but her legacy will continue through this video and by all who knew her. Thank you Cara Jones for allowing the world to see what an amazing strong women she was. It is truely a tragedy that she is no longer with us. :(

  • unreal. so sad.

  • You didnt have to die this way Otilia. I had promised myself I wouldnt cry, by I cant console ny heart. I assure you that we will abhore your killing and manument your life to the light you shined on us. May your dear soul rest in perfect peace, God's peace. I cant help hating this dispeakable thing Patrick did and pray God's judgement on him will be communed in our sight.

  • Who did this s*h*i*t? As a Zimbabwean woman who was violently abused by my husband and being of the same agegroup i really identify with Ottilia. She did not die invain and all poor girls must be l;iberated!

  • REST IN PEACE MAMA WETHU

  • Amazing Woman, zororai murugare ''rest in peace"

  • Roses, beautiful as they are, brighten our world for only but a short while before they are plucked off. It's usually the cruel fate for most of God's wonderful creations, and Ottilia wasn't spared. While I'm touched & pained, I'm at the same time inspired & proud to have even the remotest association with this great lady. She stood for and lived by everything beautifully human, saintly even - faith, hope, perseverance, resilience.... May her spirit live for ever!!

  • Thanks for the insipiration. May your soul rest in eternal peace

  • What an inspirational woman. My heart goes out to her children, her parents and also her siblings. Good people are very hard to come by and they do not seem to stay long on earth. As a Zimbabwean man I am lost for words over what happened to her. May her good soul rest in peace.

  • MHDSRIEP: Ottilia Chareka...You were infectious...You touched on so many lives. Your legacy will live on...Though I did not know you personally, but from the video I now know that you were passionate about your work...Its sad your life was cut short but your spirit will live on.....Zimbabwe is poorer without people like you..

  • This is the the Mai Chareka I met 16years ago when she was a commerce teacher. She did not teach me but she "taught" and inspired me. Mai Chareka I am saddened and deeply hurt by your death. Only some three months ago was I talking to a friend and he told me you were in Canada, would have really wanted you to know that I am doing well. As a human rights student, will endeavour to carry on with your dream, and in your memory fight domestic violence at all cost. M.Y.S.R.I.E.P

  • May you RIP dear sister. You were and will always be a great figure in our society. May the Almighty bless all those you left behind...

Why are man killing their wives???? This is so painfully.........

  • rip. thanks for this video. let's all stand against domestic violence

  • You will live on in the beautiful children you have Your dreams will not fade away.

Women will make sure your voice is heard louder than you ever dreamed of.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

  • It is sad story but an inspirational one... Bless your soul

  • I am grateful this video was made. Thank you Cara Jones for allowing those of us who did not know Dr. Chareka to come to know her and to mourn her death and celebrate her life so much more poignantly.

I am so very very tired of the murder of women. I am so very very tired of the immense sadness and geysers of rage I feel.

  • Otillia, you are a familiar stranger that Antigonish and the world will never forget....Thank you for choosing Antigonish and gracing us for a few year...you will never be forgotten. Thank you Cara for a great project that will be loved and cherished for years to come.

  • What an amazing women.

  • Inspirnational. Rest in peace beautiful Otillia.

  • You were such a great prof, thank you every so much for your help Otillia, I've learnt a lot from you, we will miss you dearly, rest in peace

  • Otillia was the most amazing and inspiring person I have ever met. From hearing her stories, to just seeing her smile. Made me smile. Everytime. I'll miss her so much, but she'll always be in my heart. <3

  • I was one of her students and she will surely be missed. I miss her already! Rest in Peace Otillia.

  • What a shame, she was a familiar stranger to me. Even still she was always saying hi and the small talk was genuine like she really wanted to know how you were doing. Your legacy will live on in those you have known and through their deeds.

  • Thanks, I will keep looking for more great friends who are all around me. I missed out on never meeting Ottilia, but you gave me the chance to know her.

  • Such a tragedy to lose such an amazing woman.

  • "My main hope was to inspire my sisters and all other women in the community I come from"
