Yeah his punching power has subdued slightly since his early championship days but he fights more tacticaly now as do many others. back in his early days as a champ he'd TKO most of his opponants. A knockout is when somebody cant get up within ten seconds. Technicaly a knockout is either that or if the ref thinks the fight should be stopped. You'll notice that it's rare to knock someone unconcious acctually. TKO still has a KO in it.

For all you who think you know Joe, he was actually born in Hammersmith, London. I am English but was mainly brought up in wales and can understand why Joe says he is welsh. You all should be appreciating the guy no matter where he is from, whether it be England, Wales, British or from timbuctoo, it dont matter. Calzaghe had his chance to be big, someone important, a fighter that could have achieved greatness by fighting Jones, Chad Dawson, Kelly Pavlik, Hopkins, Jackson and McClellan, but instead we saw Pudwill, Veit, Salem and many others like them. For me, that puts Calzaghe as the worst champion ever.
Why didnt Calzaghe fight Dawson and those other talented fighters? Good question, but only he knows why not

He took the fight to Jean Pascal so saying he was over the hill when he fought Calzaghe is bullshit.

But thats what i mean he potteed around in Europe for around 10 years while the great fighters of the division fought each other and then faded only then did he all of a sudden appear relatively unscarred from europe a healthy 34 year old and beat Two severly faded fighters and he is an all time legend now? Jones was terrible to watch and though BHop put up a good fight he is way past his best for lasting the distance only his superb brain and tricky style (and cheating) keep him still up there.

Hopkins was still solid opposition as he proved by destroying Pavlik. Mikkel Kessler and Jeff Lacy were both undefeated young powerhouses and Joe schooled them. Its not Joe's fault his management gave me crap fights in his prime.

No fabrication, Hopkins backed out of facing Calzaghe after beating Tito, and instead took on the great Hakkar. On the one hand his detractors target him for ducking Hopkins and Jones, and on the other say neither had any intention of facing him anyway. Can't have it both ways.
His claim to the HOF is as good as Hopkins', the main difference being that Joe beat Popkins and made him quit their fight, crawling around on all fours, feigning low blows and doing all he could to stink out the place.

Hopkins backed out of the Calzaghe fight after beating Tito. That's a fact Jack. Jones rarely went out of his way to take on the best either. Not Joe's fault if prospective opponents don't wanna face you.
As for being a coward, Calzaghe never would have disgraced himself with the gutless performance Hopkins put in in their fight. Nor would the old school Philly fighters he claims to be the successor to.

Joe Calzaghe is a bum and very overrated. He ducked Glen Johnson on a few different occasions, and only fought Hopkins and Jones when they were old and on the downside of their careers. Bernard Hopkins beat him by 2 rounds in their fight. B-hop got robbed. Imagine what Jones or Hopkins would do to this overrated slapper if they were in their primes. Joe will retire instead of facing Glen Johnson, Dawson or giving a rematch to the deserved winner, B-hop. Go on and retire calslappy you suck.

brits hate pavlik because he would be a big threat to calzaghe. they also hate him because he is american. but i have not seen one knowledgable fan pick him to lose to hopkins. no one who calls themselves a fan thinks this old man stands a chance.

I don't hate Pavlik at all. I'd even say i'm a fan. I just don't think he would fare well against someone as experienced as Calzaghe. Hopkins is a silly fight for him. Dodgy. If Calzaghe fought him he'd get through his defence and outpoint him for the 12 rounds. Kessler hit as hard as Pavlik and he has a better defence. and calzaghe beat him. Would be a decent fight. unlike Calzaghe hopkins was.

haha, maybe with that viscious slapping style of calzaghes. he has like no punching power, he wasnt even able to finish lacy after giving him such a brutal beating. look at some of calzaghes fights, when they slow the tape to show the punches landed you can tell he is just punching for points, not to hurt the other guy. and hopkins is an old bitch, that dumbass needs to get knocked out so we wont ever need to watch another one of his dreadful fights again.

Yeah his punching power has subdued slightly since his early championship days but he fights more tacticaly now as do many others. back in his early days as a champ he'd TKO most of his opponants. He put Eubank on his arse in the 1st minute lol hardly anybody did that throughout his entire career. Eubank was amazing and do not deny that simply because he wasnt american. He was even apreciated in america. if he was american he would be concidered a boxing legend.

A knockout is when somebody cant get up within ten seconds. Technicaly a knockout is either that or if the ref thinks the fight should be stopped. You'll notice that it's rare to knock someone unconcious acctually. TKO still has a KO in it.

The only reason Calzaghe didnt fight any of them was because none of them wanted him because he wasnt well known world wide and because they knew he was a risk. JC is a steady intelligent bloke with tremendous drive heart and will to win he was born to fight I reckon its that level of dedication needed that sets him apart and the ability to prepare for the task and of course speed ability and ring craft and a natural gift with those fast hands.
