At the final position, he couldn't take any pawns his rook was aiming at due to the fork, his passed pawn was going to fall, so black was definitely winning.
@lazimofo90 He's a very busy guy-- running your own website, making all these vids, and who knows what else this man does? :D Dont' take it personally ;)
good game too bad this wasn't me my name is John Shaw from florida i am a 3 time state chess champion. maybe we'll play a game if you make it to nationals?
Well played, this reminds me about the match you analysed between Kasparov and Petrosian I think...Where Petrosian just neutralizes K.s attack and then goes for it himself... Love your videos.
I am now addicted to these commentaries. These are very well done. I am basically a patzer but I know enough to appreciate the analysis. I out grew a radio shack 1650 and did about 3 out of 10 against an upgrade at 2250 when I was at my best but stop playing much about 15 years ago. I know enough to work out tactical combinations but the positional knowledge and theory that is on display here is fantastic. I know looking for tactical weaknesses in the opposing pieces can only go so far.
I am stunned with all this feedback. Thank you all!
There isn't too much time for calculation in blitz games - a lot of is is to play intuitively. To try and outplay the opponent positionally, rather than try and work out complex combinations. Also it helps to not be tired, and also to try and suprise opponent's in the opening, to get them using up time on the clock.
You're a great "enabler" for lazy chess bums like myself who need to study games to improve but are, well, too lazy. Your videos are incredibly instructive and remind me of how fun and artful chess can be.
Amazing stuff - how do you think so fast? :) Do you still analyse variations, or can you just somehow keep track of all the tactics in the position and rely on judgement/instinct. Impossible to say I guess, but thanks for the game.
Very instructional.

Instead of the rook sac, what about Nd3?
Fand421 1 year ago
@Fand421 Nd6? Then b6 falls and doubled rooks on that open file are lethal.

John Shaw had a clear advantage - pity he didn't play the preparatory Kh1 before smashing through with b6. Good fun.

Do you only play blitz games? i Never see you playing a good 10 or 15 minute game

Good swindle, you made him think you were a patzer and then pounced, it lookds to me like fxe5 instead of f5 would leave you in a bad way.

nice GM scalp, and an impressive
online blitz rating too.

Good game. After the opening I was thinking "how is he going to get any counterplay?" But after he played b6 and your exchange sac you got more play.
You make me curious about your system with 2...Qe7. Could you consider making a video about that?

I liked the up and down flow of this game. Good job against a GM!
