  • @YushidoMikara You'd better hope that he doesn't catch you saying that.

  • Great images there. Not sure what a couple of Green Men were doing in there, never heard that Nyarly was associated with Herne..? But some fantastic pics.

  • i love how black and death metal bands are influenced by these mythology

  • OK, maybe a stupid question, but what language is this in?

  • @Wolfenman08 Middle Egyptian

  • Awesome song, I'm sure Nyarlathotep approves.

  • @CultureClasher

Nyarlasthotep is a man behind the curtain who uses people like Rupert to do thy bidding.

  • "Hei!Aa-shanta 'nygh! You are off! Send back earth's gods to their haunts on unknown Kadath, and pray to all space that you may never meet me in my thousand other forms.Farewell,Randolph Carter, and beware;for I am Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos."

  • where did you find the pic at 0:20

  • What's the picture at 1:03? It seems like it's a wallpaper or something. I wants.

  • how do u pronounce this?

  • love the 'gyptian vibe

  • where did you get the pictures for this slideshow?

  • whats the picture at 0:23?

  • @kedrobomb tezcatlipoca.

  • Am I the only one who is playing this song back and forth with hope that something or someONE would be summoned?

  • @Thapion Well, I can't speak for anyone else but I'm not. Then again, I heard a rumour that if you played the right Blue Oyster Cult songs in the right order you'd summon something; maybe the same sort of thing would apply to Darkest of the Hillside Thickets?

  • Have you tried the superb books by Robert M Price: 'The new lovecraft circle' & Ramsay Campbell, "Tales of the lovecraft mythos" & "Ashes & others H.P. lovecraft & divers hands". Another excellent book by R. M. Price is, ' The reason driven life '

  • what language is this song in Egyptian?

  • @CultureClasher I'm Nyarlathotep.

  • @keybladeblastcalibur As I already told someone else, you'd better hope that he doesn't take exception to you saying that.

  • What exactly is the whole thing with the great old ones, the cosmic deities, and the Elder gods? Is it that the antagonists have 2 halves, the old ones being destruction, the cosmic deities being insanity, and the elder gods are the protagonists?

  • @Nverdis practically all the deities in the mythos are evil malign beings of unknowable motives and thoughts, some break deals with mortals, some only support their own worshipers, but ALL of them have a capacity to utterly destroy in ways that boggle the mind

  • @N00b1n4T0R64 The elder gods look like some sorts of protagonists but their main concern is not to protect human lives but to defeat the old ones and the outer gods. They can be a bit helpful to humans once in a while, but you can compare them to Novas from Universe at War: I mean, again, their main objective seems to only concern the defeat of these malicious deities.

  • @N00b1n4T0R64 that doesn't make them protagonists

  • @N00b1n4T0R64 Actually none of the things that Lovecraft wrote about are innately evil. Kinda the basis of cosmicism, really.

  • @FroggerbobT The exception is Nyarlathotep, though

  • What his fate would be, he did not know; but he felt that he was held for the coming of that frightful soul and messenger of infinity's Other Gods, the crawling chaos Nyarlathotep.

  • Rupert Murdoch disliked this video.

  • Somebody really needs to translate this song, or at least post the lyrics.

  • Sanity loss. -10.

  • Which form of Nyarlathotep at 0:20?

  • Where'd you get the pic at 2:38?

  • if i were nyarlathotep i would stay to the black skinned avatars

the tentacle mouth isnt getting girls any closer you know

  • Nyarlathotep is the Crawling Chaos... He will tell the audient void....

  • wat language is this in? does it actually mean anything?

  • @LeiAdrienne732 I read on some lyrics site that this is actually an attempt at recreating Middle Egyptian. Not sure if that's true, though....

  • @MorteTheSkull It is indeed true. The TDOTHT official forums has the lyrics.

  • @TheGreatOldOnes Huh....how did they determine how Middle Egyptian is supposed to be pronounced?

  • @MorteTheSkull If I remember correctly, they consulted with two people that know that language.

  • @TheGreatOldOnes Ermmm, yes, but I'm curious how anybody could be particularly sure on the pronunciation...nobody has spoken Middle Egyptian for like....3000 years....

  • @MorteTheSkull Uhhh...I'm not entirely sure...but according to the Middle Egyptian wiki page, there's just about no new knowledge that can be obtained from studying Middle Egyptian itself. So I guess some people have puzzled out pronunciation to the best that can be done. I'm 100% sure there are some mistakes with it, but its exact pronunciation isn't that big of a deal in my opinion. And I think clues to proper pronunciation have been found when Egyptian words were spelled in other languages.

  • You captured the essence of Lovecraft with this video, the music is also appropriate, good composition my friend

  • how do you know Nyarlthotep is male?

  • @PsychoReaper49 he adopted more male forms then female forms, maybe thats why some of us think he's a "male" (of course we cant describe such a creature with male or female...)

  • 2:54 gotta love those ancient Egyptians with their fixation on giant boners XD

  • 1:36 it's cernnunos! :D

  • Nyarlathotep, messenger of fear-crawling chaos, will come.

  • @CultureClasher No, Murdoch is Y'Golonac; I'm sure he has orifices in places he shouldn't...

  • @WeNeedSomeGolfShoes In that case, sorry and thank you.

  • @WeNeedSomeGolfShoes I'm not saying his idea of fear is moronic, I'm saying humans in general is a dumb animal who believe the way it views the world is the truth because it believes that's the way it is. I'm happy with this, because that opens up that everyones view of the world is right, but doesn't deprave us the oppurtunity to claim that others are wrong and I'm not a hypocrite, I know this applies to me aswell.

P.S. Is it ignorance or insecurity that made you follow this up?

  • @WeNeedSomeGolfShoes No, I never mentioned your imagination. I can't understand why that would be scary either since your imagination is a reflection of you, but it's not moronic to be afraid of yourself. Fearing what you don't know or only know bits and peices of and then putting your imagination on it is both human, but none the less stupid (Alien and Aliens for example). I could extend this even more, but fighting on the internet is so pointless that I shouldn't even need to point it out.

  • Wasen't he known as the Faceless god?

  • 0:21, fucking awesome! Also, you should have used the mad arab by mercyful fate.

  • I am in love with this song

  • It's not 'The Dark Hillside Thicket', or, even, 'The Dark Hillside', and all...it's...'The motherfreakin' DARKEST of the motherfreakuin' Hillside THICKETS'!! More than amazing...and, of course so was H.P.! Way ahead of his freakin' time...that's alll..thanks for the awesome vid...

  • i love nyarlathotep...perhaps because i love nikoli tesla...and i love ancient egypt (in a distant sorta way, conceptual romanticized ancient egypt) and that is my favourite form OF nyarlathotep...that and the 3 lobed burning eye...just cus...wtf?

  • "You bend the air with the bad sheriff" :D

  • To think that people call slasher movies "horror", the kind of *BOO* MADE YOU JUMP.....they call that "horror". They have no idea.....

  • @hurdl3thed34d Not that this is scary either.

  • @DArlauccualrADfan

You cant tell me that stories like Dagon and the Colour out of Space arent unnerving.

  • @hurdl3thed34d To say that they're scary is to exaggerate from out of hell, I can go as far as to say that they're exciting but no more than that. I haven't been scared by a book or movie since I was twelve. The Colour Out of Space though is just silly, since as far as I know the human eye can't pick up any other colour spectra than the ones we see every day. Besides, Lovecraft at first hand spins upon your fear of the unknown and that's a morons fear. The stories are good though.

  • @DArlauccualrADfan

"At first hand", Well, you know, its not just at first hand considering its entirely the point. I havent been scared by a movie since i was around that age as well, but books draw from the imagination and whats up there is infinitely more terrifying than what some actors can show you on a screen. "thats a morons fear." Youtube is not the place to compensate, big guy.

  • @hurdl3thed34d Nah, not entirely. The unknown is just the greatest part, but I've read somewhere that it's also about how fragile our ego is, considering that we believe ourselves to be the greatest evolved lifeform on earth and yet here are things which could wipe us out if they just felt like it. Other than that, what do you mean, "compensate"?

  • @DArlauccualrADfan

Most of the people in medieval England had never seen neon yellow. To them, that color would be unusual, if not somewhat terrifying.

  • Lyrics in English:

Crying out from the Red Land

    Came a man of darkness

    With evil bloody secrets

    He knew the Black Pharaoh

Servant to the Faceless Sphinx God

He gave me the book of the dead

  • @SenisterDenister

    Nyarlathotep

Slaughterer bringing nigh those who are detested

    Nyarlathotep

    Tumult and time bent

Mutilation and death in every land

    Unleashing fear, creeping downward

Messenger to those who are detested

Prepare a way for the Void and the Evil Ones

Terror in the harem of pestilences

  • @SenisterDenister Just confirming that these are indeed correct. They were posted a while back on the Thickets forum.

  • good song.

  • There is no longer version of this song. You can get it off iTunes, amazon, all the regular places! The album is "The Shadow Out of Tim" as you now know!

  • @thickets PS: yes, these lyrics are authentic Middle Egyptian!

  • @thickets It is indeed in Middle Egyptian, and for the life of me, I can't find the lyrics online; let alone an accurate translation. =P

Also, @bobwaters , he meant to say "The Shadow Out of Time". lol

  • Who is Tim?

  • You got some great images there, plus a great tune to go with them.

But when will the star be right!

  • I love the pictures. And the musics catchy. I think it would be really cool if there was a Nyarlathotep video to "walk like an egyptian" lol. Xxxx

  • @Darklordsslave Crawl Like The Chaos?

  • It's to shooooort

  • Sorry, dude, that's how long the song is.

  • Stop, so that song isn't 6 minute long? That it mind I have the damaged track(( Do you have normal one? And "Some Things Man Was Not Meant To Know" ? I can't find it in free anywhere((

  • Well, the version I have is from the album The Shadow Out of Tim. They may have done longer versions in live shows. I have Some Things Man Was Not Meant To Know on the same album, I'm going to try and post a vid with it at some point.
