I'm new to photography, and I'm considering this for my first serious camera. However, i read in a review somewhere that the photos are no better resolution than the photos taken from a cell phone. I don't want to waste money on a camera that doesn't actually take any good shots. What do you think of the photo resolution?
Thanks so much, this was really, REALLY helpful! I especially liked the 'demos.' That's really what I needed. I read reviews about it making the audio sounding muffled, and it's not bad at all. So, again, Thanks. ^^
@agreebler Yes its a very good camera for simple point and shoot, and for taking complex pictures also.
If you are going to take it on vacation and such, It is a little bulky (doesnt fit in pocket because of lense) but I've played with a slim Nikon Coolpix that slides in your pocket. Same software so the interface is the same, but just not as high quality as this camera. Still takes wonderful pictures tho.
@m1y2sti3cal Optical is where the zoom physically moves the lens to zoom, which this camera has a 15X optical.
Digital is where the camera internally "digitally" blows up the picture, which is BAD. You want to avoid using digital zoom as much as possible. When buying a camera, for zoom, buy one with the biggest Optical Zoom you can find, and don't even look at the digital. You can digitally zoom it yourself with photoshop post-shooting.
Whenever I take a picture without a flash, it never looks good. It's always blurry. I've had this camera since xmas and at first it was fine and now its like i always have to have the flash on just to get a decent picture... Is there anyway to fix this?
@thumbelina258 tripod? I've noticed indoors depending on the lighting, it needs a tripod. Well not needs, but is better. If you can stabalize it somehow it should be less blurry. Try using different settings like party/indoor. Tripods help a lot even when not in low light situations.
@kari513lily It is VERY good on batteries. I use just your regular Lithium batteries. There is a setting where you pick which batteries that u have. I used this for a wedding...and only had to change batteries once. For normal, like semi-daily use...they last a very long time. I honestly can't remember the last time I changed them haha :)
@kari513lily my batteries lasted a little under a month! I didnt use it every day, but the times I did use it, I used it very heavily :-) Guesstimating about 1500 to 2000 pics
hey man why is it that on auto mode i can only use the 3M on image mode?? i was trying to go up to the 12M but it wont go up, and the quality with 3M is kinda bad, is there something wrong with my camera or is it just 3M?
@alejandrakana, no i think its pretty bad at that. I bought it just for that to make pictures of our parrot in flight. Most of the time its just a blur. But it does have a continuous shoot which you can use on animals when they're moving and those are pretty good. However the quality of the picture is reduced to 3mp
is it good on motion pictures? because i like taking pictures of dogs and animals so i would want something that would allow me to take pictures in motion.
Before i purchuse this camera, i'dlike to know wether it displays the rule-of-thirds grid like Lumix series do. I dowloaded the manual and visited many forums but i dont find this info. Thanks in advance
@gregaudca There is a rule-of-thirds grid while in auto mode. you have to change the settings to turn this on. BUT while in portrait, and other certain modes it takes away the rule of thirds. This is helpful, but you can always make any photo fit in the rule-of-thirds with photoshop or other software. =]
i decided to get this camera but still confusing cos i have been watch too many review of this camera but 1 thing make me dont like this camera is the zoom too slow aye?
if u want to get this for 240$, look at Walmart. Most people say it's on Amazon, which is a lie. You can save four hundred dollars by going to walmart.
@GICTechTV Plasma tv I am not sure on. I know it works fine with my Computer Screen, and Projector Screen. Also, if you really want to record your xbox playing, get an external capture card...to go directly from the xbox to video. If your budget allows it, its the better option
@MsSkinny777 Yes all you have to do is connect the camera to your computer via usb cable, or put the SD card in a card reader and you can import the files into virtually any video editor including Windows Movie Maker
i Actually Have two questions! or maybe three lol 1. I have seen the red one is that the same as this one? 2. Would this Camera be good for Beginners Photography? 3. i Have Memory Card i use for my Canon would i be able to use it with this one?
1. The red camera is exactly the same, the only difference is the colour.
2. This is very good for beginners, there's scene modes, all automatic, and it has a neat video feature that beginners would like. Although, if you'd like to get more into photography some day and stop using auto, there is no manual so perhaps a Nikon Coolpix P100 would be better.
3. It depends. If the memery card is SD (Secure digital) then yes, if it's CF (Compact flash) then no, SD is smaller.
@Nellz25 Ishcoa is right. Good for beginners. Takes great pictures. I love it. The only downfall is changing lenses, filters, manual mode, ect ect that a professional camera would have. Not saying you need those, but someday you might want them, and if your budget can afford the extras. If no budget, than this camera would be perfect.
Also this camera takes an SD card so if your cannon takes SD cards your set =]
I want to buy one of these cameras but i am so afraid of the battery option, i dont know if this camera will drain out battery life quickly or must i invest in a battery recharger and rechargeable batteries too?
@kendy4 This camera is GREAT on batteries. I just use Energizer Lithium. I took pics for a wedding and only used one set of batteries (4 AA).
Also I went to Sturgis Bike Week, and took almost 300 pictures, video, and then went to a power show after that and I'm still on the same set of batteries from that trip. It's AMAZING
Use NiMh rechargables for good battery life and value.
If you want to use the flash indoors, set the white balance to "flash" and the ISO on 80 or 100. 8 Mp resolution pictures get very good results, certainly good enough for medium size prints and PC job.
ok so i bought the camera but i want rechargeable batteries do i have to buy the coolpix batteries or can i use any type of rechargeable batteries plz help mee
@HALFNHALFSKITZ Yes they are just regular .mov files that can be used on mac and pc. Depending on your OS you may have to go into your settings and switch from 4:3 export to 16:9 ratio export before you start editing. You can search youtube for videos on how to "export videos in HD with WMM" (wmm = windows movie maker)
There's a few things I want to say to you. Let me start out with the ones about the camera:
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I'm reading reviews on sites like best buy and then on testfreaks. A lot of people are having issues with the blurr, though..
I didn't have any problems today when I tested it in the store, but I didn't think about having my friend dance or anything while we were there.
Flash off particularly. BUT i have found if your using a tripod, it takes AMAZING dark/night/lightining pics. Flash on & day pictures are fine. But if you think about it what camera WONT blur in little light? Blur as far as video goes,little-none. my more recent "vlogs" ones where I'm standing up I actually film with this camera.
@adammark2009 HI Adam, I too have heard that the quality of the cam in dark is average. Is it so. Is it good clicks for indoor pics or party time , oe fireworks clicks. Please advice.
@pimpido123 Indoor pics are very good. Party time I'm not sure and same with fireworks because I have not tried to take those kinds of pictures with it
I have a L110 but red ... and when i try and use the video it only films for 10 second or less n sometimes it freeze the camera and i have to turn it off then back on ..(btw i have an 4gb memory card) can yuh explain why it does that n or help ??
@ZAHTAE33 Do you have anything else on the card besides just pictures? If so possibly delete them. OR maybe you just need to reformat your card. SAVE your pics n stuff on the card before you do that. To format the card Hit Menu > Left on the selection pad to get you to the tabs, then down to the wrench or settings > Then scroll down to Format Memory. If that does not fix it, try changing recording quality, its probably on 720p by default.
@adammark2009 format did not work do you think its my model that is havinq trouble or just an over all thing?i really enjoy my camera but would appeciate if the video would work :( thxs for the help :)

If you have troubles with blurr on night shots, just use a tripod, vibration reduction off, ISO on 80-200, and go...the camera does the rest.
