@galaxyinvador1 it used to work but the way mushrooms grow has been changed and now only a certain number of mushrooms will grow in a certain amount of space. It's been a while since I looked into the specifics though.

your method is nice but its too slow and it takes time to build the farm, i know an easier way on the search bar on youtube type in "minecraft easiest mushroom farming" and scroll down and find the same tittle, if you cant find it, it should be the 7th down

Can you make an improved version of this? In 1.0.0, mycelium dirt blocks from the mushroom biome can be achieved by breaking them with a tool with "Silk Touch" enchantment. And mushrooms spread faster on them.

@lamercampy the main issue with making an updated version of this is that mushroom growth has been heavily nerfed and no more than 5 can spawn in a specific area.

@777static777 more than likely because of the new potions... you need mushrooms for fermented spider eyes and they are VERY useful for splash potions... So, instead of Notch letting you get millions of high dmg splash potions in a matter of a minecraft week he made it more challenging :3 smart guy

@HDGodStyle again, look at my tutorial on how to get easy mushrooms, you can get a full stack of red OR brown mushrooms in about 10 to 20 mins and the best part is it works in day OR night

I did this to a T but the water supply is not infinite for some reason? Also did you knock out the blocks underneath the trap doors after putting on the doors? This in my mind seems like more room to grow. Thanks and CHEERS!

Yup, those blocks under the hatches were just for demonstration purposes.

Unfortunately this farm is a little bit out-dated these days.

@LegendOfLiam123 In a recent update the growth of mushrooms was severely nerfed. Not sure if that's 1.8 or the 1.9 pre-releases. At any rate, it's easier now to grow giant mushrooms and break them to farm your mushrooms.

@Randomlynessive they take a very long time to spread. Just make sure the room isn't lit up too much. The pressure plate in the middle is more for comfort than anything =p

Great, I go down to look up on the grow of my mushrooms and what do I see? 2 creepers almost right in my face that were running around in the lower parts :/

Dunno what exactly I did wrong to get them in there.. The lower parts look slightly different than yours but you didn't notice anything wrong with it...

@SuicideChtivi17 the issue is that sometimes they can spawn in the collection canal. This was one area that I overlooked. You can fix that by making the ground in there glass. That being said, it's possible to get infinite amounts of mushrooms now by making the big mushrooms.

@777static777 I thought of putting glass above the ground, since I thought putting glass on the ground would block the grow of the mushrooms (second thought: putting them above the ground around the mushrooms that should stay there, could block it too..). If you put glass around the collection point, you should be safe too. Problem that I encountered when trying your farm was the flow of water that doesn't reach that far anymore.

Big mushrooms are a diff question tho..

Why use two half slabs when preventing mobs from spawning on top when you can use a normal block?

@SuperDoorknobBros ...because you CAN'T just use a normal block. What you're not realising is that I'm not just placing two half slabs; I'm placing two half slabs on top of another half slab - making a triple slab. If I were to try and place a normal block, mobs would be able to spawn on it. Because a triple slab is 1.5 blocks tall, mobs can't spawn on it.

The super hostile tutorial has an epic mushroom farm design, and it works for wheat too. You can even use redstone and a piston to "auto" harvest.

@lightdark99 yes, this farm is very out-dated, but still does the trick =) however, now it's possible to get infinite mushrooms... but it's not really all that desirable anymore since mushroom stew is one of the only types of food that doesn't stack.

@ZxLonelyRangerxZ no idea. The growth rate should be the same for both types of mushroom. Some people say puting the red ones on Netherrack makes them grow quicker though (not sure if I believe that personally)
