This situation is like school, your getting bullied by the big kids, then your friend, who happens to be the quarterback of the football team and knows martial arts, kicks their ass.
Battleships are mighty machines allways have and allways will be but they have two major flaws 1. they lack ASW deffencive messures and are easy pickings example HMS.Barham, IJN Kongo.
2. if they lack adequate air cover they our easily destroyed from the air example HMS. Prince of Wales even the most powerfull battleship ever built was destroyed by aircraft the IJN Yammato ....
@SupremeCommander360 The Iowa class battleships where place in the mothballs after Korea and left to gain dust.
But in 1984 Regan brought the Iowas back into service as part of the 600 ship navy plan in which regan re-built the USN fleet which had been damaged by cuts due to navy money being pored into vietnam different story for a different day.
they provided support in Gulf War 1 and then was decomisioned in 92 and will never come back as it was struck from the Naval Register in 95.
@alfonzo2020 and our fleet of submarines. I have an uncle who works as a supervisor for electricboat who constructs all of the US Navy's nuclear submarines, and he says that battleships were deccomissioned for being obsolete as opposed to the missles strikes and tomahawk launches that today's submarines can do. Battleships have just become phased out because of that.
I love the scene because it gives me chills to the spine when the unknown soldier we see finally find someone else only to find out hes already gone. think about how you would feel all alone out there in a hopeless battle and then seeing these guys coming in to save the day.
Most modern missiles are designed to to deal with soft-skinned ships like the Ticonderoga, not a Missouri, whose armor was designed to deal with two-ton, 16-inch shells fired at close range.
lol....no. BBs have superb air defence. they have many many many many many AA guns.especialy the Iowa class is FULL of AA guns. just do a research and you'll see. plus that overall the armor is so damn thick and strong that it can take many torps an missiles with no problem. keep in mind that this BB was designed to withstand many many impacts from huge 16 inch armor piercing shells fired at supersonic velocities.and even 19 inch shells.
During the background of the battle if you zoom in on the horizon you can see a bunch of American ships surrounding the Missouri, which makes it seem like it was a full task force.
00:17 Anyone noticed T72? Tank not included in game ;)

The two Russian guys just raged quite because they kept getting bomb by the Missouri.

It's too bad the Navy retired the Battleships, in this day and age it's all about the Carriers

@alfonzo2020 It's a bigger shame to hear that the Missouri gets sunk off the coast of Vancouver defending Seattle Harbor from the Chinese Navy

this is such a great part in the campaign
that battleship seems like such a huge asset to any battle
ultramanfan1 2 years ago 29
It would of been sunk right away considering it seems to be sailing alone. Battleships dont have great air defense.

Ya i believce it was upgraded with AA missiles, and cruise missiles wasnt it?
BlueCloneTrooper521 2 years ago
It had Tomahawks and some kind of point defense I am sure, but escorts are the key.
