In short, this is a fun record, its the spirit of immortal that always showed on the concerts!!

Ive gotta say its a good review but forgetting about one single aspect - immortal was never about technique, and innovative riffs and new drumming. This record is pure immortal to the core without the ideas /musical kind of "lines"/influences that wandered around black metal in the past, that got most bands into doing records that sounded like the best band at the time. And that shifted, from year to year.

It is a REALLY good album. Not their strongest/most brutal work but its awesome. It has crazy riffs and a great atmosphere. It made top 10 metal album on TONS of websites.

no way its similar, listen to it again. i wish they could remix all their albums to achieve the sound like on DIB, SOND and ATHOW. the sound on these really brings out the uncompromised guitarplaying of this band, but i guess its kind of hard to remember what the hell you did in the studio 7 years ago =).

I think the sound on this album suck when you compare it to the three previous albums.they had the guitar right up in front whitout any makup, real pure and raw. this uniqe guitarsound has somewhat "drowned" on the new album..

so i am accualy pretty dissapointed.

guess the new produser or soundguy is to blame for this since the band never use much time in the studio afterall and just want to get the shit recorded.i sure hope they can find the old sound again and come with better album soon.

Cant say that. Sound is very similar as SOND, DIB. Also. When I firstly listened to a album, I did not like it. Now I like it more and more. It is really not a bad release. Favorite song? The first one.

I'm not going to agree with you on Marduk. They've really changed their tune with their last 2 albums. Production wise and musical wise. They are not as "black" as they used to. More listenable nonetheless, and better in my opinion. I agree with you on Immortall. Great album, sounds sameish when listening for the first time. Great review, keep em coming. I would like a Rom 5:12 or Wormwood review.

I'm not a huge Immortal fan, but I thought this album was above average in comparison to most of their albums. Speaking of bands that are pretty easy to get into for black metal, I'd suggest you do a review of Dragonlord's "Black Wings Of Destiny" album, whenever you get around to doing viewer requests again. It's a pretty good BM album that i've been into lately, It has Steve Digorgio from Testament, and he is the shit.
