Itunes is not needed, Sprint music store has over 6mil songs. You can download straight to the phone (Rev-A) or you can transfer songs using Sprints media manager from a PC via USB cable.

Iphone requires a data plan, the Edge internet is useless becasue it's so slow. Sprints data plan is much less than ATT, and you get hi-speed (Rev-A) data as well. Sprint doesn't charge you for what you look at, internet is included in data plans. So why not utilize it?... That is the reason wifi is not needed when one has Rev-A. It will come in handy when you're not near a computer!

I don't think it's going to matter if it's a beta model or not: the interface is going to be clunky compared to the iPhone's OS, which is a simplified version of an actual operating system still maintaining the core components.
What's worse than apple lovers are apple haters: they are just as biased and fail to judge products equally on their own merit.
A lot of the "iphone-killers" out there have very clunky looking interfaces. Take a look at the yet to be released HTC Touch Diamond. The scrolling on it is slow, it's not even multitouch, and you still have to use a stylus to type cause the onscreen keyboard is too small.
Don't forget that the iPhone 3G is just around the corner. While these phones are releasing competitors to the original iPhone, Apple's next revision will be out.

Rev-A speeds are not slow, I average 900Kbps to 1.9Mbps down at home, every airport I have been to I average at least 1.2Mbps to 3Mbps down whereas wifi is so over utilized average speeds are 200Kbps to 300Kbps down. It's the same for most hotspots. Also, even if your are able to update you still won't have 3G on your iphone, 3G is the radio not software, other words you have to by a new device. Att 3G is 3G-Edge which is still much-much slower than Sprint.
This is a copy iPhone , i got 8gb 1.1.4 iPhone and this is 10000000000 times better.

Why are you hard up for wifi?... Do you know why Att and Tmo tout wifi on their phones? Att and Tmo's edge networks are snail slow. Wifi is so over utilized the ave down speed is 200-300Kbps, I ave 900Kbps on Sprint Rev-A. I've been getting 1200Kbps down and 500Kbps up all day on Rev-A, the Instinct does not need wifi period.
Personally I haven't read anything on these phones but both phone you're lock down to a package deal were internet browsing is included. Wifi or not you are all ready paying for the service so it's not free.

I'm an iPhone owner but i'm always open to new products that try to top the it, and i gotta tell ya this one doesn't seem to at all. As i was watching the guy had trouble scrolling up and down, he'd accidentally hit a button instead of scrolling and he'd go along with it as if he "meant" to do touch the button. No wifi, so in a hotel where most have free wifi now you'd be stuck with the 3G and a low signal in the middle of the hotel. Zooming didn't inpress, but i did like the music stor. 5/10

For what it's worth, it's not a review - first time I was able to try the phone out with a camera in hand and just tried to give you an overview of the device. A preview - not a review. But the lighting made focusing hard, and we did a poor job with that, for sure.

Internet isn't gonna work on a pre-production beta model of a phone. The phone isn't even recognized on the network as of yet to provision the data for it. And 1/4 the iPhone? You need to educate yourself buddy. All carriers have their dead spots but Sprint & Verizon are ahead of the game as far as their data and internet quality on their phones... Plus this has a landscape keyboard for typing whereas you have to struggle to text with the tight portrait keyboard of the iPhone.
waay too choppy, anyone who has handled ipods knows that the few mini seconds between the time u touch and the time it responds goes a long way in coolness, and iPhone is way too cool.
I have an iPhone, and I don't like Apple much but I am worried about the future of the iPhone with a phone like this out already! It's a iPhone with 3G, a better touchscreen, panning, and with a more attractive candy bar design. And it costs about half as much. And Sprint is better than AT&T, at least in my area. Apple is under attack! Zunes are considered better than iPods, and this will probably slay the iPhone.
PLEASE remember before you judge the smoothness of the operations on this phone. It is a bit choppy due to the fact its a BETA TEST phase 1 phone. Trust me when the thing launches in a few months this will be all worked out. New nick name is "Iphone Killer"!
Even thought I cant wait for this phone to come out I dont know if it will be an iphone killer. One thing that seems to be lacking in this phone is the realistic feel and smooth transistions from page to page. With the iphone it feels so realistic (ex: trying to move over to another page when you already at the end). This phone does not seem to have any smooth fades or fancy transitions from page to page. I know it may not be important but it would be a very nice touch. (Sprint employee)

the sprint evdo rev-a 3g network is UNBELIEVABLE.

I don't think it's going to matter if it's a beta model or not: the interface is going to be clunky compared to the iPhone's OS, which is a simplified version of an actual operating system still maintaining the core components.
What's worse than apple lovers are apple haters: they are just as biased and fail to judge products equally on their own merit.

A lot of the "iphone-killers" out there have very clunky looking interfaces. Take a look at the yet to be released HTC Touch Diamond. The scrolling on it is slow, it's not even multitouch, and you still have to use a stylus to type cause the onscreen keyboard is too small.
Don't forget that the iPhone 3G is just around the corner. While these phones are releasing competitors to the original iPhone, Apple's next revision will be out.

I believe that the iPhone will probably always be better. I personally LOVE mac products. They are amazing and always good. But this is a good phone too,its second in line to the iPhone. All the other phones don't have half the features as the iPhone and Instinct. But since i have to stick with sprint, this pphone is my best shot. Deff. Getting it

Uh... Rev-A speeds are not slow, I average 900Kbps to 1.9Mbps down at home, every airport I have been to I average at least 1.2Mbps to 3Mbps down whereas wifi is so over utilized average speeds are 200Kbps to 300Kbps down. It's the same for most hotspots. Also, even if your are able to update you still won't have 3G on your iphone, 3G is the radio not software, other words you have to by a new device. Att 3G is 3G-Edge which is still much-much slower than Sprint.

Why are you hard up for wifi?... Do you know why Att and Tmo tout wifi on their phones? Att and Tmo's edge networks are snail slow. Wifi is so over utilized the ave down speed is 200-300Kbps, I ave 900Kbps on Sprint Rev-A. I've been getting 1200Kbps down and 500Kbps up all day on Rev-A, the Instinct does not need wifi period.

Personally I haven't read anything on these phones but both phone you're lock down to a package deal were internet browsing is included. Wifi or not you are all ready paying for the service so it's not free.

i would get the iphone and everybody knows its better but the plans are horrible 59.99 for 450 minutes and 200 text's they think thats cheap sprints is 69.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited everything else oh the iphone has unlimited web they really need better plans and fix the flaws a SDK wont help fix it by the time the instinct comes out and i'll see

that's not why he put it away, maybe because it was too clunky in his hand, and he had to simultaneously operate the camera, retard. Second of all, the iPhone and the instinct are two diff types of products, one for the simple minded retard who likes flashy menus but low functionality (iPhone) and the other for the average consumer who needs power and versatility, along with a nice user-friendly interface. Only really impressive thing about this phone is probably going to be the price, no Wifi??? sounds limited, looks like a off brand voyager without the 2nd screen, similar features to a device that doesn't really grow with technology, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if your already a sprint customer, then this is the phone for you cause you cant get an iphone or voyager to work on your plan, if your a new customer, I recommend really looking elsewhere. 3/5 *'s

I'm an iPhone owner but i'm always open to new products that try to top the it, and i gotta tell ya this one doesn't seem to at all. As i was watching the guy had trouble scrolling up and down, he'd accidentally hit a button instead of scrolling and he'd go along with it as if he "meant" to do touch the button. No wifi, so in a hotel where most have free wifi now you'd be stuck with the 3G and a low signal in the middle of the hotel. Zooming didn't inpress, but i did like the music stor. 5/10

Im not an apple fan boy by any means. However, i am an iphone owner. I will say that this phone looks pretty cool. But aside from all that im still an iphone believer. Plus its getting an update this summer. Looks like all others will have to wait another year to get remotly close.

Im replying DANIELMTZ323. u really dont want to have the touch. i had it for two weeks and its nowhere near the iphone or the instinct. it runs on windows and you will experience a lot of freezings and slow downs using it.

For what it's worth, it's not a review - first time I was able to try the phone out with a camera in hand and just tried to give you an overview of the device. A preview - not a review. But the lighting made focusing hard, and we did a poor job with that, for sure.

the reviewer couldn't get the internet to work because its a beta. The features aren't up all the way so you really can't say anything until the phone comes out. I prefer this over the iphone.

Internet isn't gonna work on a pre-production beta model of a phone. The phone isn't even recognized on the network as of yet to provision the data for it. And 1/4 the iPhone? You need to educate yourself buddy. All carriers have their dead spots but Sprint & Verizon are ahead of the game as far as their data and internet quality on their phones... Plus this has a landscape keyboard for typing whereas you have to struggle to text with the tight portrait keyboard of the iPhone.

I have an iPhone, and I don't like Apple much but I am worried about the future of the iPhone with a phone like this out already! It's a iPhone with 3G, a better touchscreen, panning, and with a more attractive candy bar design. And it costs about half as much. And Sprint is better than AT&T, at least in my area. Apple is under attack! Zunes are considered better than iPods, and this will probably slay the iPhone.

PLEASE remember before you judge the smoothness of the operations on this phone. It is a bit choppy due to the fact its a BETA TEST phase 1 phone. Trust me when the thing launches in a few months this will be all worked out. New nick name is "Iphone Killer"!

Even thought I cant wait for this phone to come out I dont know if it will be an iphone killer. One thing that seems to be lacking in this phone is the realistic feel and smooth transistions from page to page. With the iphone it feels so realistic (ex: trying to move over to another page when you already at the end). This phone does not seem to have any smooth fades or fancy transitions from page to page. I know it may not be important but it would be a very nice touch. (Sprint employee)
