@pianopro9 I trust and assume that you believe God does not exist. Tell you what, and I'm being sincere, I'll give you my answer "off the air". This area should be for comments towards the videos. Amazing take of Amazing Grace - Love the way your fingers glide so effortlessly back and forth from rubato to a tempo + walking bass :) You sir, are truly blessed in the musical department :)
I know I commented probably years ago but still finding this among my favorites always brings joy - great work! I need to get a piano again and practice practice practice...
@MiegmaishMenas Thank you very much! I really appreciate them! I also have a live versions of "Amazing Grace ala Take Five" here on YouTube. I just put it up a few weeks ago.
I love your arrangements. Will you write a book with sheet notes for these songs? I'll be the first to buy it. I am struggling to figure out the chords, but is hard. God bless you.
LOVE that walking bass line on "Do Not Pass Me By'. Just came across your videos. and your website...incredible. I just loved your transcription of 'Tenderly". I could almost sit back and see the great one himself playing. Very well done.
First 1'47" is exceptional 9:8 transitioned to 4:4. You've a gift for synthesis but none for improv. Share your GIFT, not a stretch you can't reach.
That said, "More Please".
Extraordinarily disciplined talent and 1000's of practice hours to manage this. "More Please."
My last gig: House of Blues, Chicago. Sit-in world-wide, understand the music transcending the sheet or notes. Enjoy your extraordinary talent, share, and don't over-reach.
I love the way you play man... My question is how do I improve my improv technique. I'm tired of playing off the major/minor scales. Any help is appreciated.. Books, Websites... I'm all ears.. Your biggest fan
I'm having some issues here, could someone pleeease tell me the name of the song he's playing around 2:06 when he hits that E sharp in the right hand?
It's been bugging me for days! And I still haven't figured it out...
Hi and thanks! It's actually not considered "Ragtime" but rather "Stride piano". The left hand is reaching 10th instead of octaves in Ragtime. More important, it's a swing feel rather than a March with straight 8th's, as Scott Joplin used so well. Just thought I'd give my history of Jazz lesson :-)
There is a bug on YouTube: "WE'RE SORRY, THIS VIDEO IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE". If you get this, it's a mistake. Please reload the page or try back soon. Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, please try my other videos: search ITMSJIM

This is beautiful. I love the Locrian variation, but the quality of your playing makes anything outstanding. Take 5 was the first 'jazz' piece I could relate to as a teenager, so it holds a special place for me and Amazing Grace has inspired me since childhood. There is no better blend.
It's based on the Locrian mode (minor scale with 2nd and 5th degrees lowered a half step). The notes I use in this run are(descending): Eb Db C Bb Gb F (repeat). Thx for asking!
Thankyou! It's just such a good sounding one, and I'm interested in trying to write jazz myself, but I don't wanna draw on too much of other people's stuff.
The way you combine some of the most difficult to perform and blend so beautifully is amazing to listen and see. You have this quality where gospel influences jazz, and jazz influences gospel. I've never heard anyone perform so well as you. Enjoyed this very much!
Thanks for asking. My piano is a 7'6" Shigeru Kawai, a special handmade line. I am a Kawai artist, so I am surely blessed to get a great deal on this amazing instrument. Sounds and feels like a million bucks!!
