pinkpointe: all runners love the simple act of running, but there is a certain point when you notice the more you run, the better you are at it, and the recorded times are just a testament to that betterment..Its made me who i am today and allowed me to realize that i can achieve anything a long as i set the standard(goal)..
Wow! i thought running was just about doing what you love...ive never timed myself or anything. I run everyday because i love it. I just live what i love :)
@pinkpointe13 All runners run because they love it. But to run competitively you must time yourself, and it also adds that little extra sense of achievment when you run a sub-2:30 marathon in training, etc.
Kara is not that good, sorry. Paula is way better and I live in the states (Michigan) and I have run faster than her. It takes a lot more than just wanting it. After 3 marathons, she's not going to drop 5- 6 minutes, not gonna happen. Get a clue!! You guys really don't know what it takes (yes, I do). I have not run 2:14, but I've run faster than her.
How fast, though? Are you a guy, or a woman? At what distance are you faster? You do realize the amount of injuries that Kara has had to overcome to achieve the things that she has. Finishing 3rd in her debut marathon is extremely impressive. This is not to say that Radcliffe isn't impressive in her own right, but give Kara credit where credit is due. I also live and run in Michigan..though I don't know how that's pertinent.
trekchuck, I have run a sub 30 10k (barely though) and have a marathon time faster than Kara's. Does that make me better, not really, but I know what I'm talking about and how hard it is to drop time when you get to a certain level. Sorry, Radcliffe is way more impressive that Kara. Kara talks TOO MUCH, and can't back it up. After running 3 marathons and then saying that she's going after a sub this or that and then Paula's times, that's ludicrous. No offense, just the truth!
If you are a decent runner then you understand what I am talking about. She is not going from 2:26 to a sub 2:20, let alone get anywhere near Paula's 2:15 on a certified course. Paula comes back from pregnancy, in her first race, and Kara finishes ahead of her on a net downhill course. Kara gains confidence and then Paula kicks her butt in NY. There was even talk of her going sub 2:22. Like others have said, that was a ridiculous statement to make. Sorry chuck, but she's overrated.
I love Kara goucher, but I think she raced Paula at a time when Paula was coming back (ie not in the best shape of her life) and Kara was in the best shape ever, hence the reason she blew Paula out of the water on that one race. Maybe one day her other times will be better, but not yet.
Okay this music is really annoying.

All respect to Kara, she may not be as good as Paula Radcliffe but she is MUUUUUUCH better looking!
curlykale 3 years ago
I see why you feel Kara is much better looking than Paula Radcliffe, but have you seen Paula when she is all dolled up?
maxwest333 3 years ago
Kara is naturally pretty, Paula doesn't have good bone structure, no matter how much war paint she puts on!
curlykale 3 years ago
wow, are you sure? Paula has amazing legs, and when she shows up to an interview in a skirt, ....man oh man
maxwest333 3 years ago
I can barely hear what she's saying due to the crazily loud music in the background.

No disrespect to Kara but Paula Radcliffe is ALOT Better. Kara is lovely, but just look at her times compared to Paula.
