Im only 14 and started watching prisoner near the end of last year, i love prisoner to death and i have watched every episode more than twice, its hard looking up to Charactors and knowing of them when there young but in reality the actress's are older and some even dead. I really wish i could of met Sheila Florance as she is one of my favorite actress's. RIP. <3
The actress who played Pamela Madigan would have been young even if she only just died! (relatively). We have an advert on our TVs here in Australia these days about improving the lot of aborigine lives. It says that something like only 4% of indiginous australians live past 65. So unfair.
along time ago this you tube clip had music as well which i really enjoyed now the music has been taken off. Is there anyway of getting the clip with audio as well as i really enjoyed it with the music,. Thanks
So sad that many of them died young. Excellent video. They will all live on in the hearts of the fans of the greatest soap every, PRISONER CELL BLOCK H.
@Fronika Arkie Whiteley (aka Donna Mason) and Spider Simpson made me so sad to see. Arkie Whitely was famous artist Brett Whiteley's daughter and so beautiful. She was only 37 when she died of adrenal cancer. She used to get babysat by Janis Joplin! What a life of potential cut short. And Spider Simpson was suicide. Proof again depression is a fatal illness that is not taken seriously enough.
Brilliant tribute no idea about some of these actors had passed away, brought tears to my eyes. Slappzz nice to hear of another Frank Burke fan I thourght I was the only one!
sorry if this is a morbid list...just thought fans would like to know. 'Prisoner'ran from age 11-18 for me so it was a big part of growing up. God bless the deaprted and cheers to all fans
does anyone know the real names of the departed I didn't include in the list below?....would like to find out info for all of us....cheers fellow fans
I cried uncontrollably when I saw this. I live in the US and we LOVE this show. I can't believe how young some of them were when they died. It also brought memories of my fathers death because I watched the whole series during his last 6 months alive and it reminds me and it should all of us that we have so little time left and we should be greatful for every day we are alive. Thank you! Bless you "Spider" I know what you must have felt, on a personal note.
Really sad and knocked the wind out of me to see these people have gone. Loved all of these characters but especially Paul Reed, Steve Faulkner, Lil, Reno & of course the mighty Lizzie Birdsworth. More importantly, the actors who played them were class performers who made their characters totally believable and made this show the best series ever. May they rest in peace & hello to all Cell Block H fans (of course there are so many of us).
aww that was a lovely idea. made me cry i loved cell block, well done u should be proud, all cell block fans will love that beautiful tribute. thamks again
This is beautiful!!I had no idea these people were all dead,,watched Prisoner for years before moving to the States!!I actually cried!! Very moving! Thanks for the memories!!
No Worries ! I am sorry for not being abit more accurate about the details (where and when they died, etc) but I am a bit pushed right now to go to detail.
Let's remember them for the entertainment, pleasure and of course fascination that these people brought to us ...
spot on! i want people to know or seek knowledge about the cast members...what they did....ive read up on a few of them and they have remarkable stories....
@booth2710 Hi. My name is Ziggy B and I was one of the characters in Prisoner, doing various cameo roles, Hannah's mother, one of the gang that drugged Bea . . . and others. Sheila Florance, who played Lizzie, died of cancer about 10+ years ago. Her last months were spent in Caritas Christi palliative care Hospice and passed very peacefully.
@BaitzZiggy Hi. Thanks for sharing that with us. Fascinating to hear from someone who was part of the series and I am sure that through your contributions and involvement in the show you would have many captivating behind the scenes stories to tell ... I bet permit does not permit, right? I bet you cherish the memories you have and I hope you relish in the fact that altho the show has been of the air for many years it is still very well known and ...(ctd)
@BaitzZiggy remains talked about in some of the most unlikely quarters ! So many people who I have come across have said that they never watched the show, had no regard for it and did not consider it good viewing - then, in a quite contradictory fashion - name all the charactors and some of the story lines and of course their favourite quotes ie"Vinegar tits" LOL! - So who's kidding who! Prisoner will never die and it's fanbase is as strong today as ever. Phenomonal !
@booth2710 Hi again, booth! Wow, I wasn't expecting this reaction at all! I don't know if I expected anything, and don't even know why I wrote. I guess, as you said, many cherished memories in my acting career & desire to find footage of myself at last. I accomplished this and continue looking. No VCR or DVDs back then! I would love to know what you meant when you said, ". . . Ziggy remains talked about in . . . most unlikely quarters! So glad you wrote to me here.
NO WAY!!!, are you serious, have all them died??, ...hmmm does anyone know what they all died of, some were young???, or is there anything on youtube, that i can look up saying how they died. What a great shame, as i said, some we're young to.
I believe Spider Simpson (Taya Stratton) commited suicide, Wayne Jarret died of a brain tumour at 33yrs and the one who played Anne Reynolds had a stroke in her dressing room whilst working in a play. Sorry I don't know about any of the others ... I think the one who played Kate Peterson also died of a brain tumour.
This is truly beautiful, I welled up watching it. Some I knew had passed some I was shocked and saddened to discover had passed. I grew up watching prisoner and have always felt strangely protective of the show and it's cast. I feel lucky to have seen their excellent work and hope they rest in peace and that thier loved ones can draw some comfort from knowing they made so many people so very happy, Prisoner is a very special part of my childhood and it is because of their work.
a lovely tribute-gutted to learn Wayne Jarratt(steve Faulkner)died so tragically and of Arkie Whitely(Donna Mason) and Spider Simpson's death, sad to see such talent lost before they could fulfil their potential.shocked Gerda Nicholson(Anne Reynolds)also gone-too early.I watched PCBH from age13 until it finished in 1994(uk).There has been no other series like it,it lives on in my memory forever. Thank you for such a fitting tribute to the actors who have died since. The film says it all.
I remember hearing of the deaths of Officer Faulkner, Governor Reynolds and the old Lizzie but I didn't know of the others. That was a nice gesture to their memory. Thank you.
I cried through this, some you showed I didnt even think were dead, its suprising how many people have actually died in real life, but im saddened that you didnt put year of birth to death on too, that would have been intresting to see how old they were when they passed on.. Thankyou for a very moving and sad video.
I was shocked to see so many of the younger actors had died. Wayne Jarratt (Steve Faulkner) died as long ago as 1988 aged only 31. Arkie Whiteley (Donna) died of Adrenal Gland cancer in 2001 aged 37 and Taya Stratton (Spider) committed suicide in 1996. God Bless
Wayne Jarratt, the actor sadly died of a brain tumour. Heart rending isn't it. He'll never be forgotten as one of the good screws - Steve Faulkner. Sadly missed.
Okay, the series is 30 years old, but many of the dead actors were young then and would only be in their 50's if still alive. Very sad and a lovely tribute.
I was aware of some of the cast having passed away but surprised and saddened by the passing of the character called Donna Mason..so young. A fitting tribute to all.
Very touching tribute, I was shocked to see Olivia Hamnett who played Kate Peterson so wonderfully has passed away. I think because it is still so fresh to us when we watch it that we forget the show began nearly 30 years ago and that sadly many of the stars are no longer with us.
@pcbhfan It must have been difficult for you to categorize these by character names since so many of the actors were recycled. When it got to "Catherine Roberts" I wondered if you'd show her again as the prison guard and some of them played at least 3 roles each.
i'm pcbh's biggest fan and even i didnt know some of these had died. gosh, r.i.p!
