  • If you're considering Carbonite, don't! I had been a customer of Carbonite for years. My PC had a failure and the system was rolled back to an earlier date. I go to Carbonite and they can't provide my data. When Carbonite does a backup they write a file to the PC that they're backing up and then they use that file to restore the system. Long story short, I lost family pictures, videos, tax information, work and personal files. I was promised numerous callbacks from engineering that never came.

  • @CarboniteLostMyData That's interesting.. can you private message me your contact info (email) - I'll see what I can do for you. I know a few people over at Carbonite. I once interviewed their CEO as well... maybe I can get you some help. Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated.

  • @CarboniteLostMyData "SOS gives me peace of mind. With my family's data backed up automatically offsite, I never have to think about backup. And I never worry about losing precious files."

  • ok so my computer said i had updates available and it installed this on my computer. it isnt a virus right??

  • how do you make a live site? you and chris pirillo has them i wonder how ? :o

  • Why would you even think about doing this. never back your data up to a companies server. Uh. The server can go down along with your data.

  • Um.. the purpose of the two companies is to provide backup services. They have their own backup methods to ensure your data remains safe. Of course, you should have some kind of local backup too, but, these two services are very good.

  • Cool Video

  • what if there servers burn down, and your house does?

  • Your screwed

  • They probably have offsite backup... if that burns down too, well I'd say you are pretty screwed as are they. Chances of that all happening at once is pretty slim though. :P
