one of the best so far. there are too many musicians who play this piece without enough soul. the melody in both pieces are the resemblance of choirs singing, not hammering key notes.

Please do not complain about the pedal. Had Bach had the opportunity of using it he would have done so.

why is he using pedal in a baroque piece where this wasnt designed to be played with a pedal but having all the notes held for the appropriate amount of time. this will give the effect of pedal. in my honest opinion this piece should not be played using a pedal at all. you can also find composers playing this piece without any pedal what so ever.

It's true, he has a very romantic interpretation of the pair.

The pedal and rubato in the fugue is really quite irksome. I agree that it should be played with no pedal.

The prelude however, I would consent to some moderate use of the pedal just as long as no phrasing is mushed.

@nic0003 Why not? Had Bach had the technical possibility of using the pedal he would have done it. It improves the rendition.

che bel suono!! solo una domanda sul preludio: ma i trilli non sono fuori stile? non dovrebbero essere misurati? (e in aumentazione, alla fine) ... la fuga è bellissima.

Grazie per il commento....i trilli sono misurati (a biscroma)...forse il pedale crea la sensazione del movimento e quindi della "non quadratura" ma io lo preferisco e lo sento cosi....:)

really think this is a wonderful performance/interpretation. esp . like the tempi. trills i wish i had. in the prelude i felt the emphasis on the 8th a little heavy sometimes ( like in the c min. theme) but this is quibble , what a player! i want to listen to more of his stuff-- he personalizes but not without sensitivity to modern interpretive concerns.
