Later, christ commanded us to stop and we did. Even before we started polygamy, laws were made to allow us to be killed on sight because of our religion without consequences. Why do people hate us so much? We are simply normal god worshipping citizens.

We receive current revelations and commandments. Polygamy was because after we were driven out of America into the Mexican territory, most of the men died on the way.
This came from dime novels written in the early 1900s. People would eat this stuff up, much like "the Inquirer" or "the Star" today. The authors didn't do much research or check their facts, and they'd up the romance, violence, controversy etc. They were written to make a quick buck. This would be like if someone looked back at today and thought Indiana Jones was an accurate depiction of history.
