    its good for your age , if you bench more that your bw , you're ok , keep your rips low , sets high , and recovery long .

    ofcourse with heavy weights , never 1RM , 95% 1rm and get good 2-3 reps , ofcourse after good warm up and stretching , you dont wanna be a meathead do you ?

    never neglect lower body exercised , the squats are the single most testosterone releasing exercise known to man , leg exercised help in developing the rest of the body.

    dont obcess on numbers ,ths all.

  • I'm that way. I don't ever squat anymore. It was and still is pretty pathetic. My knees just can't take it and I'm not comfortable with it. I am 5'8", 168lbs, 35 years old and I can bench 295 for 2 reps. I'm stuck there for now. I can only squat maybe 150 for a couple reps. I just can't seem to get past 295, I can't get 300 for 1 yet. I'm still hitting though. I will get it one day!

  • I just wanted to say that I use dumbbells rarely in my workout, and if I do, I never go past 110's. Yet I can easily do 12-14 @315 so your training method might not be true for everyone.

  • you really want to get your bench up switch to big dumb bells...dumb bells are harder but they make you stronger....if you could bench 130-140lbs dumb bells you would bar bell press 300lbs easy...

  • That's retarded, do you honestly think the best benchers in the world are training with 400-500 lb dumbbells in each hand to press a straight bar? If you want to get good at something...you practice that specific something whether it be jumping sprinting or bench pressing. Stabilization is "harder" because the less stable a joint is, the more prone to injury it is going to be, so it protects itself.

  • Thank you! Someone who agrees with me that dumbbells don't really improve your bench. I trained with dumbbells, almost every time i went to the gym, replacing any barbell bench w/ dumbbells, and I, incredibly, got weaker.
