  • what is that wonderful tool called that he use at 1:00-1:10?

  • The one I'm marking with? It's called a tri-square and can be bought anywhere.

  • @KingBlossomGuitars yes that - one more question what kind of wood will you recommend for a guitar to play blues with?

  • @moellerdk93 mahogany, if you like gibson blues, alder or (swamp)ash if you like strat blues.

  • How Many Strings Can an Electric Guitar Have All The Way Up To 7 8 9 or 10 or 11 But With One Neck Only Please Reply Quickly To Tell Me But Someone Who Knows

  • @isabarriga I suppose you could have as many as you like, but after a while you couldn't reach the lowest. There's gotta be 9s but I think I've only seen 8s

  • @isabarriga there are 12 strings, but ther each string is doubled. in terms of different strings 8 is like the max, a normal amp cannot handle a deeper string.

  • Good but would have been much better if u didnt show all of the band saw cutting

  • I would be scared as hell with that big of a band saw

  • Why is your bandsaw so much quieter when cutting than mine is?

  • whats the deminsions of the wood your using?

  • what is the best woods for a les paul shape guitar(solid)?

  • A classic Les Paul has a mahogany neck and body with a maple top. Depending on what you want, you can make it out of other woods for a different type of tone.

  • @KingBlossomGuitars 3:10 its slipknot's new song lol

  • @idanbo1 please don't confuse "Les Paul"Shape" with an authentic Gibson Les Paul.

You could make a "Les Paul "Shaped" guitar out of Balsa wood and fine Italian marble. Like King (and others have said), it depends on what you want it to sound like.

Personally, I want a Helium Bubble wrapped with a carbon fiber sealed center core, with a polished rare earth top and back with a baby seal tooth bindings...

Bamboo 50K year old shark tooth inlays, and picks made from rare tortises!

  • my neighbor is making an electric guitar using red cedar, is that material any good for an electric guitar to sound good?

  • I actually have 2 in progress with red cedar carved tops. Red cedar is used as a tone wood in acoustics. Mine are not solid cedar and I would think a solid cedar guitar may be quite lightweight as it's not a dense wood. Mine aren't done so I have no experience with it yet. It's all good!!!

  • ive seen kramtone use a bamboo guitar strat

  • the camera guy isnt to sharp. lol the guy told him 2 leave twice while cutting and he just stands there.

  • can i use bamboo? *_*

  • Good question...I'm not familiar with bamboo as a tonewood.

  • bamboo is not a tonewood, im 99% sure. you could put a think layer of bamboo on the top of the body if you really want it for show i spose

  • Thanks for the videos :)

I was wondering what your opinion on Koa wood is? I've been inspired by the Travis Bean guitars that use Koa wood without any top or back or sides.

I definitely want the finish to be the bare wood of koa but enhanced with clear acrylic or stained or whatever like the Travis Bean guitars. However, I'm not sure that the tone will be great.

So what would it be like if I had a maple body, with a Koa top?

  • I've never worked with Koa. I' guessing it would be like mahogany but others could tell you from experience.

  • there are 2 factors to consider when using multiple woods

the way in which their tones "mesh" together

and the way they interact with temperatures (all woods expand contract slightly differently from one another)

wont go into technical details (although i wont pretend to be an expert) but mahogany and koa is a good duo when considering both of these factors.

ive never heard of a maple and koa combo, not to say it mightnt be good, just that i dont know

  • can I use narra?

  • Yes...I don't know what kind of tone wood it is.

  • I have read an article that narra has a sweet tone. Please describe what sweet tone is.

  • I'd suggest going to a guitar store and asking to try a guitar with sweet tone.

  • im thinking about making a guitar, need some help since itll be my first, im also thinking about using pine. any suggestions?

  • I wouldn't recommend pine, it's not a good tone wood. Consider poplar or alder, mahogany, maple

  • i want a bright sound, so i think mahogany is a warm sound.

  • maple gives a bright sound, so does alder. single coil pups

  • The "A Complete Custom Electric Guitar Build" shows a preview of a DVD that actually shows a custom electric guitar built starting with a tree!!!!

  • you should wear ear protection that thing sounds loud.

  • i shouldnt say much yet, but u should consider making guitars out of multi wood body's. maple/walnut mahogany/alder(my paul). good job tho!! u seem to have patience!!! keep it up !

  • So far so good! I'm heading to the next episode.

  • Good man who takes pride in his guitar making abilities. =]

  • wow thx so much i really enjoyed it

  • I suppose that marking on the wood with anything other than pencil is not advised?

  • Not especially, it's easier to remove if you need to....not as permanent as ink.

  • how much time does it take for the wood to dry

  • I usually let it dry in my shop for 3 months after I resaw it. It's supposedly dry when I get it but I let it sit around some more after it's opened up.

  • yes, people, this is a nice trailer of saw VI :d his name is the jigsaw!!

  • hi- nice work first of all, I was just wondering what is the thickness of the top piece?

  • It's about 11/16" and then gets sanded to 9/16" for gluing to the guitar body.

  • donno where i'll be able to find a saw like that

  • Find someone who has one or can cut for you.

  • you can get 1 for like 80 bucks at home depot i think. no?

  • that is one HUGE ban saw

  • 32" wheels which gives about 13.5" of height which is great for guitar making. I looked a long time for it.

  • How much was that?

  • $250 35 years ago.

  • lol mother of lord its a monster

  • nice piece of wood... mmmh eastern maple top...

  • Actually I misspoke...it's western bigleaf maple.

  • wow amazing

  • very good post! Gonna be interesting to see all the steps

  • It's gonna take a while for sure. Stay tuned.

  • Wow very nice..You do such a great job Jeff.

Can't wait to see the guitar finished!:)

Gesh I might have to start playing...LOL
