To see Tornado damage on TV from somewhere hundreds of miles away, it's hard to make that strong of a connection.....but when you know what these places are "supposed to look like," it's a whole new level of devastation. I was breaking out the google map thing and looking at the AJ's Market on Dalton Pike.... to see that place now, it doesn't even come CLOSE to looking like it did... hard to believe, and it makes me fearful of another bad spring this coming year.
We were visiting Tennessee, and this was 2 days before my 14 bday! My nephew was terrifyed, and that was the best bday gift there was. that, and I also like to watch it rain.
I live in Ooltewah and my daughter's car was hit with baseball sized hail, and we thought we were going die four times that day. I just can't believe what's happened to Apison and Ringgold - devastation. It will take a hundred years for the forest to return - I'm speechless.
Is it just me, or does anyone get confused how to rate this sort of thing? If you give a thumbs up, does it support the people who lived through it, or does it sound like I love destruction? If I vote thumbs down, does it sound like the vid sucks and that I'm shallow, or that i think the event was terrible? I think...I'll just add it to my watch list in respect for now.
Damn. Nature can be beautiful one moment & wreak havoc the next. I was home alone in Rabun County when the storms were coming thru. Not a good feeling! Luckily my house was spared, but I feel so sorry for those who have lost everything...thx sharing the video.
I live near here, as well. We were on Wilhoit Dr at my inlaws when the tornado hit. You actually show what is left of their store in the beginning of the video.
I live near here too. thanks for uploading the video. So sad all the lives lost and damage done to peoples homes, and business'. My prayers are with all of you.
Anybody know how Arthur Bates is doing? Was he hurt? My aunt says he's fine but my mom's neighbor said he's in the hospital. I am out of town and haven't been able to get in touch with him on his cell.
Thank you so much for your video. We've seen so little (almost nothing) on the damage and deaths in TN...our prayers are with all of those affected in any way. Wish I was there to help. Do you know of a legitimate organization/church/? where I could donate?
I live on clonts rd and it came threw my yard we saw it I am so blessed and it breaks my heart for all the people who were not so lucky and all the lives lost and lives turned upside down because of all of this!
This is terrible! I grew up in Apison and recently moved out into my own house 4 years ago but my parents live at the end of Alabama rd. and Apison pike at that intersection. I cant beleive county line is gone. I know the people who have the horses that were being covered up with those sheets. My hometown is just leveled and all gone now! i am speechless! My friends house in country estates had the complete roof and top floor almost all the way blown off! its just so sad! This makes me cry again
I'm sorry this is so personal for you. I only live about 10 minutes away and know several people out that way too. I hope your parents went unharmed. I just couldn't believe County Line was destroyed. I mean it was a concrete block building...
This is crazy!! I got a call from a friend in Georgia when all of this was going down and I couldn't believe all the background noise I was hearing.. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who were involved and affected by this.
One of the tornadoes was yards away from hitting my house, thank god it didn't touch it.. I'm very, very blessed. Power was out a couple days, but everyone's alive I know, it's insane. My prayers go out to everyone in the tornadoes!!!!!!!!!!!
I live not too far from there also, pictures and video don't do it justice, this is the first time I've seen the effects of a tornado first hand, the devistation is beyond words. My heart and prayers go out to the people who have lost houses, loved ones, and pets and livestock, its a hard thing. today on my way home from work I saw some people having a barbeque for some of the people who live here, thats a very good idea!!
I went to check on my mother the morning after the tornado. The videos don't really do the situation justice. To be surrounded by so much destruction, so many lives lost of people and animals (lots of livestock and horses), so many people milling around not sure what to do. It's not just a single view, it consumes the periphery and is emotionally overwhleming. Not to mention this area is primarily elderly folks and poor who can't afford insurance.
Nature kinda reminds ya that consuming and collecting a bunch of crap isn't really what life should be about. A wind just comes along and throws it all over the place. Why we decide we need to collect all this crap in our lives... makes ya think.... all you need are the essentials.
@ShellShocker18 Our hearts & prayers for your tragic loss. We're in Collegedale, now, but lived both in Apison & Cherokee Valley Rd where barely anything was left standing, either. Daniel was right - there's no way to grasp what those of you effected & the scope of it all is like. Gods speed! xoxo
This is on my street, thank you for showing this... I am in contact with my family, but I wanted to see for myself... I can't believe the county line store is gone... it has been there since I was a little girl... my prayers go out to all the people effected from Orlando, FL
i feel bad 4 those who lost a lot that day. thank God nothing else bad happened 2 them

Poor little County Line store... A lot of people in the area will miss it. I'm glad you got through it better than the store.

@carol0827able
To help the area in this video specifically, you can make a donation to the Red Cross of the Greater Chattanooga Area.
Also, if you're near any of the areas that were hit by these tornadoes, blood is in very short supply. Please donate if you're able.
Thank you for asking.

All of the destruction has been very difficult to see. You really have to see it in person to understand it.
