  • This movie, along with The BIg Country, has one fo the bester fistfight scenes ever filmed.

  • I was named after this movie. I also find myself pretty close in mannerism as the character. Although not as awesome.

  • I was looking for Shane Dawson

  • how neat would this be recreated in Blu-Ray or even HD-DVD?

  • This is the movie I was named after. :)

  • thumbs up if you were looking for shane dawson

  • I WAS LOOKING FOR SHANE DAWSON

  • @megaMossPointless93 LOOL same here i wanted to hear the bit where he says Shane alot hahaha

  • POINTLESS brought me here lool

  • Just stuck a video response up Shane V Pale Rider which is the best?

  • SHAAAAAANE!

    MA WANTS YOU SHANE!

    I KNOW IT!

    man that kid is annoying

Way to say Shane like 20 times in one scene!

  • This is another one of my favourite films

  • This would my goodbye baby lol, Melissa

  • @davyboy176

I dont do goodbyes.....So your fuked!!

    Lol

    244242

  • @DYSYALYS OKbaby l8er 244242 cmon lie always be here no matter what , you know that

  • well done shane !

  • A true description of the film.I like it sadivizion. They still make "epics"but

the gratuitous violence, disrobed women, men at the urinals and excess profanity, have stripped the actors and the films of all their mystique and dignity. It's called "reality"Maybe I'm naive, but I can't see Bogart,Tierney,Duke,Ladd,Leigh, in today's films. In theGolden Age even the villains had dignity.Like Jack Wilson...fast on the draw.

  • this showed up when i typed ShaneDawson in the youtube search bar.

  • @TheSantiaBoy its giving better results than usual then

  • More then a great western.A classic American film.In my top 5.

Wonderful cast.Including the boy.Contrary to what some say I think he

gave one of the best children's performances in film.Like somebody said

even the dog was good. When he arose and walked across the room it

was apparently improvised.I think he must have studied at the Actor's studio...........He was fast...fast on the draw.

  • @northernoir More than a great western, yes it's true. This film, except natural beauties and great photography, contains the Good, the Evil, the naive children's view of the world, but the most important is that this movie contain hidden message that how adults can be corrupt and may differ from what they were in childhood and which is covered with small boy and his dog.I don't know why my beloved Hollywood no longer makes such epic films

  • i want to do that at work todaya nd leave and my boss will chase after me and scream come back!! lol

  • The little boy was played by Brandon DeWilde who died in an auto accident when he was 30.

  • I like the bar room scenes where the bar height is deliberatley low as not show Alan Ladd's short stature.

But Ladd still a giant on screen.

  • Thanks Edgar Wright!

  • You mean this movie is "Ape"

  • One reviewer made a comment I never forgot: "Even the dog was good."

  • If anyone liked this, you might be interested to see Drive. It's almost a modern interpretation of this classic.

  • Ha Bad guys died ha :)

  • my mom named my son after Shane

  • they show how the bad guy gets killed in the trailer? people must have been pissed back then hahaha

  • @fleischpudding

WTF!! -to go ahead and show the outcome of the inevitable duel in THE TRAILER- dumbass suits-- and it still made a great profit!!!!!!!

  • this "BIGGEST MOVIE OF ALL TIMES"-attitude is annoying :-(

  • my bros name is tht and he moved and i said tht he grew up watching this

  • For Virg.

  • I'm a 20 year old boy from a place no one has ever heard of in England. I decided to watch this after I heard an old man talk about it to his equally old friend at a bus stop. It's probably one of the best films I've ever seen. The music moves me on its own but coupled with the film, WOW. A true classsic.

  • i remember reading this story in english literature in school.

  • Wow, way to give away the ending of the climactic gunfight in the trailer, lol!

  • @tjhoenecke Great, now I know that's the ending :(

  • @BananaWielder Sorry, my bad. :(

  • @tjhoenecke Hahaha it's okay man. At least you help spark my interest in the movie. Gonna watch this tonight. :D

  • @BananaWielder Well, just so long as I didn't TOTALLY ruin it for you.... ;)

  • bill hicks brought me here lol

  • By far the best Western movie ever made.

  • I love this movie. This and Hondo are 2 of my all time favorites.

  • I got my name from him.

  • Sounds fruity

  • i picked up the book back in the 9th grade. little did i know it would influence my sense of honor and helping for the sake of helping.

i also named my son after this character. now he's old enough to be curious about this movie.

  • could someone please upload shanee the full movie please.... i've been lookin all over youtube but i cant find it

  • Aaahh did he die in the ending when he was on the horse or NOT this has been bugging me

  • I named my son after Shane

  • @happy85love I was named after Shane. XD

  • Shane is the MAN!!!!!

  • Jack Palance just oozes badness...without hardly saying a word....and yes he was low down Yankee liar.

  • The amazing thing about this movie Jean Arthur was 52 years old at the time of the filming and 53 the year it was released. She as beautiful as she was in mr. Smith goes to washington 1900 to 1991 rip Jean we love you still

  • Lol. My dad named me after him.

  • N e one who says they dont like this movie,is a low down yankee lier, this movie is a classic..............

  • The book was great but the movie sucked

  • @death6998 I disagree.

  • @Ceaaa22 The moive made no sense in the book they explain about the stump but in the movie shane just randomly starts chopping at the stump and shane is way different here hes all jumpy and blonde

  • ...A perfect Gent...in the wild West..yep..that was SHANE ..a'right..a very professional.. Gun slinger..yet underestimated by many..

"they just don't make em like that no more"!!

  • Comment removed

  • I first saw this epic on the True Big Screen(Drivein Theater) as a young boy..later, on the Big Screen of the OutDoor Theater overlooking the cliffs of Quantanimo Bay.. No DVD will ever recapture the Spectacle of Big Screen and the Greatest Showings!

  • I say "Shane! Come back Shane!"

and no one understands my reference.

  • "A gun is as good or bad as the man using it."

    Amen!

People kill people; the gun is simply the Great Equalizer.

  • Jean Arthur gave such a fascinating performance in this movie.

  • SHITTTTTTT

  • I was named after this XD

  • Shane, Rio Bravo, The Searchers...

  • "If there wasn't a single gun left in this valley"

Fallacious way of thinking: what will they defend themselves with?

  • @Ragitsu I think it was a metaphor, but I got confused with that one too!

  • @Ragitsu sticks and STONES

  • @RAMONDlAZ

Against guns, or even bows & arrows? Not likely ;-).

  • @Ragitsu you people suck at jokes lol

  • @RAMONDlAZ

Well, I did put in a winking smiley ;-). Asides from that...sarcasm isn't always easy to read over the Internet.

  • @Ragitsu That's where common sense comes into play

Should be easy to read now, right?

  • @RAMONDlAZ

With the internet, all bets are off when it comes to common sense.

  • @Ragitsu lol got that right

  • He reminds me of lucky Luke

  • best westerns ever 1... once upon a time in the west 2... the good the bad and the ugly 3... shane 4... the searchers 5... firecreek

  • We had to watch this in english last year. Without a doubt the worst movie I've ever seen! But I gotta admit, the bit where the boy (i forget his name) is going to bed and he's like "goodnight mom, goodnight dad... GOODNIGHT SHAAANNEE! " is just too cute.

  • @LoverElephant97 if this is your idea of the worst movie you ever seen. what do you like, sponge bob the movie?

  • @chillchi LMFAO...I like it. Did some moron really say that?

  • @Waszma yea....to each his own...as for me this is one of the best westerns ever. not just shooting his gun but giving life lessons from his mouth and his actions.

  • @chillchi It is a great flick. It's obvious that some of these jerks just get on here just to irritate people, no one would really be stupid enough to think Shane is the worst movie they've ever seen. Guy probably never even saw it. "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is my favorite western of all time, but Shane has to be in the top three or four.

  • @Waszma i agree with your list but you left out my favorite...BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK!

  • @chillchi Funnily enough, I haven't seen Spongebob the Movie and I don't really intend on doing so. It may be the worst movie I've ever seen, but maybe that's just because I've seen a lot of good movies which were way better.

  • where was it filmed?..anybody.?? .i mean the state

  • @SCOT989 It was made in Wyoming. The mountains in the background are known as the teetons. If you can get the movie on video watch out for the blooper at the beginning of the film. As Shane rides onto the Starret holding (farm) a white truck can clearly be seen moving in the background. They air brushed it out of the DVD.

  • @SCOT989 wyoming teton national park

  • The best western of all time. Period. It takes classic western elements and makes them moody, dark and atmospheric. No other western comes close.

  • MY FAVORITE WESTERN.

  • Best western made with it's moody, dark atmosphere, almost a film noir western. Perfect in every way. George Stevens was a wonderful director.

  • i just read the book for my American West class and I loved it! now i've got to see the movie!

  • i want to see a new version of Shane....please make it

  • @elumanlegan They did , it is called Pale Rider w/ Eastwood

  • At that time, this movie had a large influence on the novel and the movie in Japan. The those who produce do not know "Shane" though it is influenced to think that I am mysterious by this movie also in the movie, the game, and the animated cartoon of Japan of the 21st century. This movie might have left something for a Japanese gene.

  • best weestern ever.....you low down yankee liar

  • My TOP-3 West-Cowboy Film, and impressed OST, beginning and ending, Thankss !!

  • Don't go Shaaanne...plleeeeeaassseee....bahaha what a loser

  • @mrnargileh

Who are you to make such a comment?

  • Big Daddy Shane...

  • Shane is a simple knobjocky

  • Never seen this trailer before, but I love how it shows like every good part of the entire movie.

  • ameredon1, to my knowledge, the boy was Brandon DeWilde who later went on to play in Hud, with Paul Newman, as his nephew, Lon, and was killed in a car wreck at the age of 30. Very sad!

  • how old is the boy now is he still alive ..>

  • After my papaw saw this movie 7 years ago,he ended up changing his name to Shane.

  • Its a good movie but they didnt take some of the primary attributes of shane from the novel :(

  • @apple162 ...lol.

  • I wonder why holly-wood can't make this kind of great film anymore.

  • my name is Shane. This and the Shane company are so cool.

  • These old movie trailers are fantastic. So much feeling and heart in them.

  • Shane hits one out of the ball park!!!! Ya bought me a drink the last time I was in here.......You know the rest!!!

  • George Stevens greatest film with Alan Ladd, and one of the greatest of actresses Jean Arthur who is magnificent.

  • Archetypical Western. One of the best ever

  • I had a crush on Brandon de Wilde. Very sad that he was killed in an accident in his teens.

  • @mmcrosbie he was 30. he was born in 1942. he died in 1972

  • @xprssocr14 my mistake, but 30 is too young to die anyway.

  • @mmcrosbie no worries. and i totally agree.

side note: we watched this in my intro to film class and we made fun of branden's bad acting, annoyingly girly voice, and goofy look. but he turned out to be a pretty good lookign kid afterwards.

  • Be sure to watch Brandon De Wilde in Hud (1963) starring opposite Paul Newman.

  • please tell me ,where can I see this movie,,,,,please....

  • @11199545 Just rent it. Netfix has it and so does blockbester. Or just buy it.

  • Lone some Dove

  • a great movie. sad to hear brandon de wild who played the kid died so young.

  • George Stevens made this movie great, not Alan Ladd

  • Damn that kid was so annoying. I have like zero patience..I better not have any kids.

  • well i ain't never seen the movie... but trust me, i've read the book over and over and over again, absolutely love it

  • @BloodnboneJAYD

    see the movie!

  • this movie should be shown in schools; just let the kids see what men and women WERE.

  • Funny. Jean Arthur played in this film -- one of my favorites indeed. But it has a decisive neo-Confederate tone. Yet she also played in a film I like as much, "Mr Smith Goes to Washington," which extols Lincoln.

When will the North and the South be united? ... I guess when neo-Confederates learn the Civil War (not the "War between the States") is over.

  • We're watching this movie at school xD

  • ALAN LADD!!!!!! I buy ALAN LADD movies from lovingtheclassics.

You can find the site since I cannot post a link by googling it.

  • Nice trailer. Just give away the climatic fight scene why don't you.

  • I was named after this film.

  • I'm sure glad I saw the movie before the trailer - there's some pretty serious spoilers here. Great flick, though, especially with the scenery.

  • damn. I just watched this online. Best western....it is right up there, if not higher, than those spaghetti westerns. The actors, and the actresses--especially joey's mom. Dang good actors. And the entire movie was just----suspense. this is comin' from a 20 yr. old. It's a beautiful movie, beautiful track. Amazing.

  • What a great music track.

  • I think westerns are great and I am 19 years old. They are really underrated.

    This movie is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You have good taste young man. My dad showed me this one when I was 8 and I was hooked: my fav flick of all time for a bunch of reasons. Westerns, if done well, give a glimpse as to what America used to be like, not just based on time set in the movie but due to the values that existed in the country when the flick was made, usually by guys born around 1900. They grew up in different America than we did and the values conveyed in their (John Ford, George Stevens, Howard Hawks) films shows that.

  • @nesports90--What could be cooler than a lone drifter, fast enough on the draw to drop 6 men in 2.5 seconds? It's chilling.

  • Why do you fill up this post with a bunch of crap. Grow up.

  • my fave western ,by a mile......

watch it a least twice a year...

  • he went away at the end with a bullet in his side....

  • no it was only a flesh wound. he went away because he dident want to come between joe and marion. shane knew that marion was having strong feelings for him and he dident want to be the reason that they broke up

  • @zootelevizor I just checked out your vid, hilarious!

  • Todas as melhores qualidades de um Western estão neste filme! Inclusive o platonismo conduzido explemdidamente por George Stevens.Entre tantos Western magnificos, este é o melhor.

  • golden....A+++++++++++ ,5-stars....!!

  • Singelo e especial...

  • in my personal top 5 best movies..

and i think, best western EVER made.....

own it on dvd and watch it a least once a year..!!!

  • This was one of the most human and powerful movies I've ever seen. Kinda like High Noon. Both wonderful movies.

  • One of the best movies ever!!!!!!!!

  • greatest movie EVER.
