It was glare, I am 100% positive. I went to the exact location and got glare with my own camera, and my Dad took pictures again using his camera (the original camera) and got the same blue "orb" and red cloudy object. It is most definitely Lens Flare on his camera lens. That's how his particular optical lens looks when it captures glare from the sun.
I found out during further investigation, that the objects are indeed lens flare coming off the Sun. I have a followup video linked to this one in the more info. It really had us fooled for a while...but, alas, it is but a common lens flare phenomenon.
Hmm , Rick Mom &Dad didn't send the original to me. They tried but I guess they were too excited. They sent it to Bill so I will look closer tonight when he checks his email. Cousin, Paula
I just went out to the same spot this morning, Paula. I used my own camera and I got some glare that looked similar, but not exactly spot on. The photo just looks so much like a solid blue object, but perhaps Dad's camera takes slightly different pictures than mine. I can't prove that the objects are or are not UFOs, but I am highly suspect. I figure that another round of taking pictures with Dad's camera this time is needed.
Crazy looking cloud formation. I am apt to accept Thunderhook715's hypothesis, that the blue green orb is reflecting the light from the Sun off of the water vapor that is over that region. That would make a reflection that would be about the same size as the moon or sun. However, I am not a physicist and don't know if this could actually be the case. These photos were taken at mid afternoon, why would this spherical cloud formation have a reddish color to it? It should be white like the rest...
Photos were taken in North Eastern South Dakota, Roberts County area on Saturday 10/18/08 @ 1:00 PM CST.
As for if they are still there or not, that is unknown. The two photographers weren't paying attention to any UFOs, but looking at scenery to make a painting. It wasn't until after the photos had been taken that my father noticed the objects. Capturing them was just pure blind luck! And in two separate photos to boot! I plan on scoping out the area this weekend.
I have seen the investigation video too. I am not sure that the object that resembles a little plume of cloud in the original photos was a glare.

Looks like condensation or dust on the lens to me.

The large one could possibly be a cloud, as its kinda transparent.

Where is it the photos were taken?
What date were they taken?
Did the objects dissappear or are they still in the skies?
Thanks

the small bluegreen orb is reflecting light from the sun at an angle back into the sky and then reflecting off of the water vapor.

That is quite an interesting observation. Thanks for the insight.

thats a moon?

That was my first thought, until I looked closely. The thing changes shape, the Moon wouldn't do that. And what is the blue orb then?
