@stevesumiyo Cool man. I lived in Yokohama too up to 1990 and loved Honmoku but our Moon Dogs was different band. With respect for Mr. Ikura's, we made ours before his like in 1983 in Fukuoka. Thanks for checking out, Steve.
First time I heard it was in '64. Last time was prolly '94. I woke up in the middle of the night about 10 years ago & this song was in my head. So I grabbed my guitar & worked it out in the dark. I'm still playing it. You just CAN'T BEAT quality & a beautiful, yet somehow simple tune... Good job dude. Ron: Thanks... this song ( like all the other great, character-building songs of the past ) is part of my up-bringing - It'll always be there !
You've been so kind, Ron. Because is absolutely a great song, and I love many other beautiful ones. Thank you for what you did. I wish you the best forever.
I love old guitars, such a great tone. Thanks for your reply, and how about have go at one of my new songs? you have a great style, and get to the heart of a song, I wish you well.
I went many of your songs. I liked your honest, powerful & unique lyrics and melodies. You're encouraging to me to create and play music for such a long time, the same age as John Lennon. Thank you for finding my play, Ron.
It's a Gretsch Jet '21 that I bought at Chelsea Guitar in NY, 1992. I was told it's made in 1955 by California Vintage Guitar in LA where I live now. Ron, I appreciated your comments, loved your site, music and the respectable info..
`Interesting, what guitar is that? looks like something from the 1950's. You did a good job of the vocals, by the way if you look up Ron Ryan on the web you can go to my website and see what I had to do with this song.
I remember the MOON DOGS!!
Mr. Ikura was the lead singer.
He has a hot rod shop in Honmoku now, near my house.
