She was clearly better than Nan, even Khorkina (who is great on bars but her beam is weak, Anna was clean on both even if her bar routine was easier) and probably Patterson because of her artistry and gracefulness. But anyway, I doubt she won one day, judges don't like her, why ? who knows, she was the best in Athens, was great in Beijing, and won two bronze, a shame..... It's all about politics and some fight between China, Romania and USA-_-

@efrainherrera1 Why would they ? Actually I think she is a great coach when you see the new russian quad not able to be clean on 3 events on 4 :/ Anna was a really good gymnast at 11, clean, and amazing. Maybe they should have kept her as the national team coach.

One of the most underscored gymnasts of all time. She should have four medals instead of just two: a bronze here and a bronze for beam in 2008. Seems like the judges like to rip her off and give what they've stolen to the Chinese.

She turns late in her pirouettes and over-cooks her handstands. The penalty for that is VERY harsh which is why she's never been much of a high scorer on bars.

Not quite true: her score here was great considering she had a 9.70 SV. In Beijing, her execution was even better (clean turns, HUGE release moves, the best double layout dismount of the entire competition) but her low A score reflected on her B score as well (the judges tend to find more deductions on easier routines). She's not the greatest bar worker in the world, no question about it, but her scores could have been higher IMHO.

I'm not debating that at all. I'm just saying, the past vertical handstands is what cost her higher than a 9.45. Patterson had a 9.80 SV, went through cleanly and got a 9.50.

So if she'd just been a bit quicker in those pirouettes she would have scored higher.

I was just remarking on why she scored so low with a visually beautiful routine, is all.

I'm not suggesting you are. But I think there's no point explaining why she was the only top gymnast in this AA competition who wasn't overscored! Her handstands are very deductible, indeed, but we can both agree that her score was too low all the same.

But there were a lot of people screaming about how it deserved higher and that there was no way it should've had a 9.3+. All I was doing was explaining why. I never meant to insult Pavlova, I love her, she's a great gymnast. And in my perfect world she would have had the AA silver.

But Nan/Patterson/Khorkina were all pre-established senior gymnasts, and the favorites from the top countries. Pavlova was new to senior level and was the 2nd highest Russian, so she never got that little reputation boost in scoring, which is a pity because she needed it to get the scores she deserved! Patternonkina(morphing is fun) all got over-scored because of their name alone. But in the end, the top five gymnast there were on top. I'd just like to rearrange the medals a bit. ;)

She was underscored a lil on beam and floor! This routine was well done, but it was a poorly composed routine! Too basic, not enough difficulty connected! THis safe bar exercise is what kept her out of the medals in Athens. She still earned a solid 4th in the world at the Olympic games! She is a stud fo sho! I thought she probably deserved the bronze. Her balance beam was outstanding!

Anna is the most unlucky gymnast ever...she should go to the judges house and put toilet papare and colour all over it...I´ll help her......she deserved the bronze here..she deserved the bronze in Beijing in beam and maybe even in athens she also deserved the bronze in beam...she is the best but finished last what a shame I love her!

Zhang Nan was nothing special, really, Khorkina could no longer hold a candle light to her, and Carly Patterson can't dance her way out of a paper bag. Anna was robbed. This is the reason why Athens is my least favorite Olypics.

Agreed- Nan was forgettable in my opinion: average, with clean lines but no real spark or originality to her gymnastics.

Khorkina wasn't too bad at these Olympics, just very weary and out of her depth I think.

Carly Patterson was the worst Olympic champion I've seen[aside from LePennec on bars]she was robotic, stoic and predictable- sure she did the big tricks, but she didn't capture any hearts.

Pavlova had the best competition of her life and got shunned for it - doesn't make any sense to me.

Khorkina was past her prime, so she wasn't as competitive as she was before. Zhang had a very different choice of music. That's all I remembered about her from Athens. I agree Carly is the worst Olympic champion aside from Emilie. I also think she is the overall worst international AA champion aside from Vanessa Ferrari.

Anna Pavlova was so underscored here, she was one of my favourite competitors of these Olympics.

It was such a travesty to see unremarkable gymnasts like Patterson and Nan beat her out.

With all four of her routines having beautiful form, clean execution and surprisingly long lines, I would have had her top of this competition, never mind fourth.

This year's Olympics had best make up for the shameful judging at the '04 games.

Why was she scored so low? The routine was not that simple and I personally didn't see any deductions. I think this cost her the bronze (along with Nan Zhang being overscored on almost all her routines).
