I was eleven at the time and it always brought some interest in those dark almost Victorian (well it was round my house) schoolday evenings....thank goodness!
Great series. That burning scene must be one of the best in any TV or Movie, especialy the part where he threw the molotov cocktail. You could imagine the baddies thinking for a split second "well I never expected that" I don't beleive any one else could play Richard Bradfords part, it was so made for him. I'm in total aggreement about he should have been a bigger star than it turned out.
This was a quirky series, many time McGill would take on 3 to 10 big guys (with a cigarette in his mouth) they would initially kick the sh*t out of him, he would prevail and the last cut of the fight sequence would be the bodies of the big guys spiralled out cold on the floor, McGill would straighten his displaced tie, remove the still lit fag from his mouth and walk off camera they don’t make them like that anymore.
I used to watch this series when I was 9 or 10 years old and this episode always stuck in my mind, easily the best one. it was called Day of Execution. Thaks for posting.
THANKS for posting this. Odd & intriguing to see a yound Donald Sutherland. Mr Bradford was a very effectivce actor...deserved to be a bigger star! :)
Happens so often in the showbiz world - sometimes the best talent catches the wrong boat! Not an actor in history was a patch on the perfectly featured Richard Bradford - he deserved to be one of the biggest stars in the world!
Just shows you Donald Sutherland went on to be a star leading man and Richard Bradford got a one way ticket to palookaville!!!! what went wrong Richard..Sutherland's not in the same class!!
It happened because Sutherland grew as an actor. The rest stagnated, found that booze was much more fun or shot themselves. Well fuck 'em. Sutherland grew some balls and now holds court at The Actor's Studio with the best of them. Bravo.
NO it happened because he got a lucky break as a goggle eyed misfit in 'Kelly's heroes' check his stupid Irish accent out in mias. Donald Sutherland in my opinion is an awful actor so your welcome to him !
nice posting! and a good choice too.

I dont know Donald's entire story and certainly not that other guy.
But he (Donald) is a good actor.
I have to see more movies with him though.
