  • this was way advance than nes

  • Amiga version is much better.

  • This version is really hard to emulate, I still haven't managed it!

I am trying to recreate Shadow of the Beast 1 in 2.5D graphics! Please stay tuned for updates on this project. Visit mt channel.

    Thanks!

  • Scaries CGs... O.o

    AHSUHAUSHAUSHA

  • cool graphic of vp cheney holding his baby daughter

  • Has that baby in the intro got stubble?! The early nineties were hardcore...

  • this is one of the game witch was impossible to play to the end

  • did the sega or mega cd version ever come out in the west

  • @zachthezombie it definitely came out in the USA.

  • Main character runs like Woody in Toy Story :)

  • fm towns version is too much "literal".. all power in sotb trilogy lies in understatement..

  • I have to say I'm not fond of the new sprite designs on this one. Too colorful and cartoony in my opinion, and the main character looks much more generic.

  • @KingamongmenIIV

You could disable the game over screen though and go directly to the title screen instead. Does help quite a bit with the loading.

  • Which version is this one?

  • @lovedisshitrazzer

The FM Towns version. Similar to the Sega CD version only it's easier and has better quality video sequences etc.

  • @laffer35 You are real BEAST man .

  • Two Pints!

  • Its a pity I cant get this version. I must say I generally like the presentation of the games ported to FM Towns. Such a good system.

  • Much better than the Amiga version(sorry fanboys).

  • @melvoin

I strongly disagree, I've played both versions to death and I still think the Amiga version is way better.

  • @melvoin This version seem more accessible and nice to look at. But the original feel is lost here...not as dark and beautiful/disturbing feel to the game.

  • Anybody here can finish that game?

    hahaha

    its hard do it

  • Nice interpritation but I still prefer the original Beast II. It just seemed that bit more sinister than this. This looks like it plays better in terms of difficulty though, but if you turned the cheat on in the amiga one and just treated it as a pure adventure game it was great.......and still tough!

  • What the heck?! Had this on Amiga and thought it was the best of the beast but this is a totally new game! WOW!

  • Music in this game is pretty kick ass...

  • The people who made the segaCD version were sadists. 8:30 when you talk to the person on the left you have to threaten him twice to give you the information he wants a beer for and he tells you to take his money (conveniently kept across the acid pond-plus its not even enough for a beer!) The guy on the left will tell you to take the money too if you say you had a drink with him before (he stabs you a few times if you say you met him in the woods awhile back)

  • Man I hope they remake this game. It wouldn't come close to the original. But at the same time you can't forget about the classics. ^^

  • This is no longer Shadow of the beast.Despite the surprisingly good graphics, and the great musical effects, this is some kind of fucking mixture soup between fucking Tarzan/Islander/Jungle boy...

  • "Beast II" was by far the poorest part of the Trilogy. And so goddamn tough. ;)

  • The game tvalentine means is called Baal, it was also made by Psygnosis and was only really good on the Amiga.

  • Comparing this to the Amiga version, this seems to me like a classic example of more colours/effects/etc = less atmosphere. Then there's the music, this stuff sound like something off Deep Forest 7 or something a channel TV plays during downtime. Then the cutscenes, which are very clever, but have almost nothing to do with the setting of the game and thus look like bastardized eye candy added for the sake of it. All IMO of course ;)

  • its cool that they went to the trouble of making new video interludes, music and smoother animation... but the Amiga version still has the best atmosphere due to it's awesome art and Tim Wright's soundtrack

  • Technically it does look better...more colours, smoother gradients and so on, but it has lost a lot of the dreariness that gave the original so much atmosphere.

This version looks too cartoony in my opinion.

  • I agree. Beast I was gloomier.

  • SotB2 looks amazing on the FM Towns computer! This blows the doors off the old Amiga 1000 version played so many years ago! The music is great, too!

  • this game looks like impossible to play without a guide

  • the best tunes of the series are in fmtowns. excelent tunes! this game is not that difficult to find and you can play it also on PC or laptops with emulatores of fm-towns! so, the guy that sais to keep in secret is a dumb ass! lol search it on goolge folks! it's one of the best platform games ever made! :) peace and love to all!!!

  • Great music! It also seems to be (at least a bit) more balanced.

  • if you are looking for FM, Scumm, Amiga, or any classic gaming material. Do yourself a favor and google Pleasuredome ... it is THE torrent community for this genre

  • Is there a way to get an MP3 of the music??? I swear I love the Beast games so much, just hearing a snippet of the music gives me chills x

  • Long shot, but does anyone remember a game that played like this but you were a spaceman/robot with a big laser gun, left and right with lots of up and down ladders and came out about the same the.

  • You're probably thinking of "Turrican".

  • the sega CD version was funny because of the voices..."Halt stranger....no one may enter...our wood...." "attack!!"

"Buy me a drink........and ill tell you all I know....."

  • On one hand I like the graphics of the character abit better than on the amiga, but that has got to be the smallest whip ever.

  • This music is incredible... guitar sound is like Jason Becker, this new age version is amazing!!!

  • "I respect that so please don't ask.. it'll only make me feel horrible that I can't send it."

Fuck you! i will find this game

  • Fuck you too and good luck :)

  • thks! ;)

  • Can you tell me what emulator I need to play FM towns games on windows?

    Thanks.

  • It must have taken a few goes to figure out the right dialogue options! (Unless you speak Japanese of course)

  • WHAT A VERY STRANGE VERSION... not the graphics of Jeff Bramfitt... neither the music of Tim Wright.... ALL IS DIFFERENT HERE... hahahhaha..but the better part... the minute 8:00... THANKS A LOT, LAFFER... AMAZING RARE SURREAL VERSION!!!

  • Some parts of the BG music remind me of the movie Flatliners. I love this game and that movie :)

  • Am i the only one who quite likes the music?

although i will agree the amiga version is the best (duh) the music in this is pretty good.

  • Dull and uninspiring gameplay. Gods is better.

  • i fell in love with sotb2. music & this fantastic background scenery.

  • I agree, awesome game. The Amiga version is my absolute fav version of the game though.

  • Ha, I have this ROM...I just can't get my damn FM townz emulator to work. All the instructions are in Japanese! They didn't have the voicing the Sega CD version had..but they had the same lame music. Amiga rules.

  • bah, this one looks too easy, amiga version was x100 more harder.

  • Yup. I have a lonplay of the Amiga version too and that one was a lot harder to record.

  • This is exactly like the SEGA CD Version... only with better background layer graphics. Looks just as unplayeble though.

  • yay i've managed to get my hands on this too ^^

  • it's cool! but I like the original version much more. it has way better music =) cool find! thanks for uploading and good job =)

  • Impressive.

  • I like the Amiga version much better but this one certainly does have great graphics.. very cool port but the Amiga version is superior I think.

  • Wow i had no idea the Towns version looked this good!. I always knew it was a great system, but not quite this good. There are some aspects of the Amiga version that are nicer, but overall this actually is better than the Amiga version!.
