One of my favorite parts is the chapter about courage; West tells you up front how hard it's going to be to cut against the American grain where books and learning are devalued, as you said. Thanks for your review, and if I may, The Age of American Unreason (Susan Jacoby) is a great book along these same lines. Recommend it.
