A modern rendition the background awareness of which clearly sounds distorted of original intent by later accretions and favoured strategisms of latter day murder group systemologists, albeit one's I reccognize as Australian. (BTW, is this Russel Morris or just one of an on-going series of body doubles?)
It was written by Johnny Young and produced by Ian "Molly" Meldrum, who having been influenced by his association with the Beatles as a reporter for Go-Set magazine, applied some of the tricks he learned while in England......or so Molly said.
May be missing something .. What year is this ? ( soryy DUHHH if if it missed something) He sounds even better the the '69 original ( oh what happened to the hair ? ) :- ) ROCK ON RUSS !!!
Strange then that Russel did also the cover of I am the walrus ... no doubt they all love the beatles and got them as a shock in the 60'... anyway, his real thing sounds more than pure aussie Rock with melb' blues influences ...
Sounds like a few people are getting their oo mow mow mows confused with their googoogajoobs. This song is NOTHING like I Am The Walrus. It's an Australian psychelic classic in its own right - and it reached Number 1 in Australia which I Am The Walrus never did ;) (and I can say that because I'm a huge Beatles fan as well)
I had this song on cassette, I used to listen to it in the car on my tinny sound system. Over the years the tape stretched and it sounded like someone had dropped something in your coffee...lol. This is a much better version. Thanks for sharing.
I loved the 1969 version of this song, but this is much better. Mate he's great live!!!!!! The acustic guitar work is amazing!!! Knock your socks off stuff.
I was a stage roady for a local Brissy band named Dealer, got the joy to tour with Russell Morris and The Rubes back in the early 1980's had a blast fantastic memories and really excellent bloke as they all are, Hey Russell still love the tunes
It has been my good fortune to find this as it was one of the best times in my life .Thanks Morris the memories come floodinG back. Driving around and turning up the radio when you come on . Didnt matter where i was, loved all the stuff u did .you give all,,, thanks
Im lucky enough to actually know Russell and his family. He is a true gentleman with a fantastic family and to be able to see him perform like this in this quality is a true show of his tallent. I take my hat off to you Russell.

I think you will find striking similarities in the chord progressions of Real Thing and Walrus.
My guess is Mr Young just strummed the chords to Walrus and and came up with this -Ok the melody is not exactly the same but the feel and chords are
Doesn't mean it isn't a good song
