You stood almost alone becouse you sacrified Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Denmark and Norway (in chronological order). Actually to be technically correct it is the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. The Isle of Man is an internally self-governing dependent territory of the Crown which is not part of the United Kingdom, likewise the Bailiwicks of Guernsey & Jersey, they are also not part of the European Union! You need a lot of history to understand it, and they don't even teach it in UK schools now. First union was in 1284 (Wales/England). Great Britain comprises England, Scotland & Wales.
