  • In the play Solveig is one of the most wonderful of all women. That's my opinion. One can but long for such a woman, when one hears Grieg's music.

  • questa orchestra ( o forse sarebbe meglio dire questa direzione d'orchestra) ha uno stile esecutivo troppo perentorio, inadatto a questa musica.

  • Lindo. Grieg vive. Parabéns!

  • great performance, magical piece of music !

  • extremamente bonita, voces sao incriveis!!!

  • Awesome! TY.

  • So melancholy, isn't it?

  • Very Intresting, But What Is The Storyline?

  • This is a spark of heavenly pleasure. Bravo!

  • Bravo!

    - From Norway.

  • Otkrila sam Griega... carobno...hvala!

  • good work rich. such an amazing piece and splendid performance by all. lovely to hear

  • Bravo Natasha !

  • the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard now it also has a special meaning to me

  • Very beautiful arrangement, bravo Natasha.

  • That is very, very good. I was quite moved by the feeling and delicacy of the performance. Wonderful.

  • Can anyone tell me what this play is about. Is it in english?

  • No, it was written in norvegian. It's a piece from the music written by Grieg for Ibsen's drama"Peer Gynt".It's a long story, too long to be synthetized in few words.

  • Rebellious boy travels around the world

    Awesome story y/y?

  • yes, very good in full :] love all the music

  • OMG!

  • One of the best ways for a Mediteranean stranger to approach Nordic soul...

  • Brilliant Nationalist composer.

  • Very beautiful. One of my favorite in this play. Thank you.

  • Very funny thing. When I was in Istanbul Turkey, they had these propane delivery trucks there that plays a song to let people know they can come out and fill up their propane tanks, and one company used Solveigs song as their tune. Very strange to hear something so familiar in such an exotic (to a norwegian) place.

  • lol, here on Brasil they play Fur Elise.

  • very nice performance.

  • un peu de magie dans ce monde de brutes

    ;p

  • Grieg can mix so sweetly sadness to hope and light thoughts, just as in Peer Gynt

  • good, but it's played a bbit fast! :P

  • sorry about my "un"kowledgment, but it is by edvard grieg or by peer gynt? or is gynt the conductor?

  • 'Solveig's Song' comes from a collection of music written by Edvard Grieg, - 'incidental music' - intended to accompany a very long play written by Norwegian playwright Henryk Ibsen called 'Peer Gynt'. The play takes it's name from the central character, and another of the characters is called Solveig. The best bits from this large composition were arranged by Grieg into two orchestral suites. Solveig's song belongs to the 2nd Peer Gynt Suite. The conductor in this video is myself !

  • lol

  • omg really you are the conductor? How wonderful. I love this story but Peer didn't deserve Solveig's love

  • That's right, he didn't. But she should have admitted it to herself. We have a duty to take care of ourselves as well as other people.

  • That's true. I don't know why she liked Peer there's nothing about him that would inspire that type of love. But her love is immortal and his absense probably helped.

  • @richtomes Is there only 2 songs in 2nd suite? I just studied(in school) 1st suite.

  • @losingname there are 4 movements in the 2nd Peer Gynt Suite -

    Ingrid's lament

    Arabian dance

    Peer Gynt's homecoming

    Solveig's song

  • The music is by Edvard Grieg. He made the music for a play called "Peer Gynt" by Henrik Ibsen.

  • GRIEG is the no 1 Scandinavian/Nordic composer by far!

  • Only scandinavian? ;)

  • divine music, amazing singers, wonderful Grieg, splendid lyrics, incredible light...

  • Kamelot rules ))

  • haha

  • yeah it's beautiful. i played it, too. but some people said it must be played faster. it think this this is just right, isn't it?

  • So beautiful yet so SAD! It makes me want to Cry!!

  • Ilove it............

  • Beautiful -- beautiful -- beautiful!

I love this piece. Thank you for posting such a wonderful rendition. Even beautiful to look at.

  • Could someone please translate anto666pieter for me ?

  • I`ll my dear Friend,

Felton uses normal pencils when he is drawing on the wall, tree drawingpencils he uses to draw and end the drawing of Waylon and Willie Nelson.

  • What the hell are you talking about ?

  • (reply to richtomes): Partly (my entire vocabulary coming from _Peer Gynt_, the play). "No, I cannot; thou shalt (inescapably) learn Norwegian; thou shalt [reise] (travel?) to Norway and learn Norwegian; thanks (due to?), for/on account of [sist] (because I say so?)(so you can talk?). I am [sa] (so?) [glad] (glad?), with songs, my [foreldre]."

But I guess you wanted his earlier posting, and that, I can't get anything out of except "nederlandske" -> Netherlandish/Dutch and "store" -> strong.

  • It's a bittersweet song...about a woman waiting for her love. I love it...this is beautiful and I can sing along with it awesome! (Will be going to University for Classical (vocal) training)

  • No need for a Slavic connection with Norwegian folk music

  • For sure not the best recording, but the piece itself is miraculously beautiful...

  • Please: Does anyone have the lyrics for: Solveig synger i Hytten?

  • nice!!!

  • Wonderful music, emotional, incomparable melody. Was he influenced by some Slavic composers (Dvorak, e.g.)?

  • Good point, musically I can see why you might wonder about that, but as far as I know there is no slavic connection.

  • Wow! Awesome!

  • the song is so amazing!

  • it's so beautiful!!!
