I only get my hair professionally cut once a year. The rest of the time I cut it myself with normal sissors. Not the things they use at salons. And I do a pretty good job to. :) I go into my room with long hair and I'll come out and its at my neck. XD

Well, not to sound snobby, but I've been trained in cutting hair, since I'm in cosmetology school, and you always wet the hair to some degree when cutting hair or it could damage your hair. The only thing is that yes your hair will strech about 50 times more it's length, if you pull on it too much. Always cut hair wet, with less tension.

she's right on.professionals trim as they see the problem develop. however, if you have wavy/coarse hair, be SUUUUPER careful with thinning shears. the law is: short pushes long, long follows short. so, if your short hairs grow out, your long ones will be crazy and frizzy!! but,folks with straight hair can pretty much do whatevs.

I just cut my bangs, well i already had them, but i let them grow out way to long and decided to trim them myself but i think i made some big mistakes. they dont look horrible, but i did make the mistake of cutting them too straight across my face and i BADLY NEED THOS THINNING THINGS,BAD. The cutting looks to obvious and no matter how much i tried to thin it out with normal hair cutting scissors it just wasint working, i think iam gonna try to fix them tomarrow.
