nice mixdown so far but seriously you shoud think of a different name for your track, origin unknown - valley of the shadows is pretty much the most iconic jungle dnb track ever made so it would kind of conflict with your choice of track name lol
Your drums are always so hench! I can't get that goodness out of Reason4 :\ Do you use other ReFills? Recommend any strong ones? I find the factory drums quite hit and miss :\
have you got an email i can contact you by, my mates starting a new label and would be keen on some good talent, reply to this comment or post it to my page
This is very well done, Loki. Fantastic rythms, great choice of sound sets. I can tell you're no stranger to the saw wave. How long have you been at it?
Another phat choon from loki!!!, maybe you could try a bit with the sub-bass chopping with the other bass?, (at the moment its a continuos rumble in the background, which is good anyway) wouldn't know how that would sound until its doone but maybe worth a try ;)
LOL! I have that same exact drum sample in my old crappy casio SA-65. It's called swing or pops or something. Funny shit. Anyway, props on the sick track! Pure badassery.
Really love the beat, and the title fits perfectly here! And those samples at the beginning made me think: "Will it b some 'back to the old school' tune?" :)
I would stick to this main motive, no major modifications needed - in my humble opinion ;)
haha, I know those Casio drums :D thats awesome. this tune sounds brilliant. I dont know if it's mixing or youtube but this needs more high end, now it sounds like it has flu.
I'm liking this, and the snare actually. I think it's easy to just stick with the same one once you've found a really good hit and processed it. I wouldn't call it a fusion at all but was there an intention here to get a few different ideas/styles in there, it sounded like it could have gone the liquid root, or much darker. Interesting stuff.
@loki1200 Hey Loki, what kind of snares samples would you suggest for using in DnB? I just can't find any I like really. They're either too soft, too harsh, or not bright and loud enough (kinda like yours).
@loki1200 Also, any suggestions for DnB kicks? I imagine I should use soft, short snappy kicks. Kind of like a 'thup!' noise. So it goes, Thup-ksh-thup-ksh etc.
@renegadesoldier94 There are no perfect drum samples out there, i don't think.I make my own these days by layering samples together, compressing, eqing etc. then exporting as single hits.
Check out the 'Vengeance Essentials' 1&2. Many people say these are the ones to use. The kicks are great- Lots of different types and styles. The snares are a bit weak in comparison, but they're better than many. Also check out the BHK sample packs- Some very good rex loops and some pretty good snares too.
@loki1200 Ok. Sure. What I do with kicks and snares etc, no matter what genre I want to do, I just sample kicks and snares from songs, and only layer if its weak, I also compress in Audacity.
I'll check out the VE1&2 pack. And the BHK one too!
Few things i'd just mention would be that intro snare - it sounds like you meant to put into the background,. I wouldn't change it but would rather hear what it sounded like heavily filtered ( the entire drum set ) - gently rising into the bad-ass drums ( @ 0: 45 ). Dunno man just an idea, but overall this tune sounds immense! Some mental reese parts in there :) as always, brilliant work.
whoops!! i made a boo boo, i didnt like the snare in the intro, when the track gets pumping that snare then, its good!!, and i love the short jungle break you have made :D

Thanks for the comment. I know exactly what you mean.
I bought a soundbank the other day with about 1000 drum samples in it trying to find a new snare. I got so sick of using the same hits all the time.
There's actully two layered up when the track drops. Don't think they sound too bad, not perfect, but not bad :)

Youtube can't find the stereo version of this (it says: "This video is no longer available"), but sounds all good in mono too. :D
Damn them reeses really are great.
The drums sound a bit messy, I'd make the breaks a bit less complicated (it might just be the Youtube quality though).
Nice one. :)
