The costume for GORT was a work of art...look closely at the scene when GORT carries Patricia Neal...you will see several holes under the chin for ventilation. Also, when GORT carries Klaatu after he was shot....he is actually carring a 10 year old actor to over stress the size difference
Okaaaaaaaaaaay. Now tell me something I don't know! The only thing bizarre in this video was the man and why was he standing and acting like he was giving some scoop on TDTESS? This is info is all well known!
Not sure where this stuff about Michael Rennie being Irish comes from. In fact he was born in Bradford, Yorkshire and died in Harrogate, Yorkshire. I was surprised when I found this out because for years I laboured under the misconception that he was Canadian!
Still - most people in Britain and North America have a bit of Irish in them!
The director Robert Wise said it was Claude Rains they were thinking of for the role of Klatuu, NOT Spencer Tracy. Because it turned out Rains was committed to a play in NY and couldn't get free to do it. After that Robert Wise et al. were thinking about others when Darryl Zanuck sent them a note suggesting a young man he had seen on the London stage while traveling in Europe that he was very impressed with and had signed him under contract to Fox, that was Michael Rennie.
Irish perhaps, but born in England. Everything else this man said about the film is 100% accurate. Also, the director of the movie said that this film was made during the Cold War Propaganda & threat of Nuclear Bomb years. In Ufology, it has been stated that this film & 'Close Encounter's of the Third Kind' are actually documentaries. I keep coming across stories in the military that say we have been warned through the years by someone or something. And many believe that's why this film exists.
The Day the Earth the Earth Still Still is part of a series of psychological experiments conducted on an unsuspecting American public. The following quote is from Time magazine.

Nothing "bizarre" about any of this.
All common knowledge to Sc-Fi fans.
