  • North Shore 1987.

  • A great track and the best line up

  • Guile spotted at 3:25

  • Is there a whole show of this anywhere? NEED!!!!

  • @helenga666 My thoughts exactly. This looks like it was a storming gig!

  • The most innovative and underrated guitar player ever!! This band makes me feel like no other band in the world, hard to believe they are so unknown to most

  • the most unbelievable, underrated and creative guitar player in the world...

  • This stuff should be on the radio!!

  • i kicked off

  • Great Sound...North Shore movie theme!!!

  • @juliogutherpereira "He break his stick he shread so bad!"

  • @juliogutherpereira

I'm unsure if it's the theme song from North Shore. But definitely the song playing during the Rick/Chandler/Turtle Waimea scene. Regardless, cult classic movie. Great stuff.

  • Love this...studio version, not so much...

  • When My dad heard Killing Joke he said to me, ''we belong to different Galaxies''.

lol. In a way, he's right, They didn't have music like this when he was younger, but this is Killing Joke, They've changed everything, and for now the the future IS KILLING JOKE. The best is yet to come my friends.

  • I liked this era of Killing Joke. It's delivered quite well live.

  • Raven...high in the mix as he deserves to be.

  • - @lakesidepark2112 - I don't remember any controversy when this was released back in the mid 80s, except some comments from friends saying it strayed from their earlier sound. But that's KJ.

What I do remember is listening to the entire CD over and over. The CD played like one long song...and, very prophetic in its description of mankind. If you were to view the video for Sanity, you can see imagery of Washington D.C., and comparing it to the decline of modern western civilisation.

  • we miss you Raven, welcome back to Big Paul fucking drummer !!!!

  • @beforethree

He was too cool for us! Had to go early, we'll see him again!

  • fucking incredible

  • Miss you Paul!! You will live forever in your music

    Cheers

  • Killing Joke is epic

  • the best band on earth period.

  • good shit

  • fantastic band- loved them forever. unreal drumming on this record- brighter than a thousand suns had a polished new wave sound that was very different than other records by them - very versatile band.

  • Nobody listens to Turtle....

  • - Brighter Than a Thousand Suns - Killing Joke's most polished, underrated and accessible piece of work. This CD is a must have for any music lover's collection...

  • @ajarnfrankie Totally agree. What was all the controversy about when this album was released? REad something about the critics being harsh about the band straying from their original sounds and all ... I think it was their best, but that's just my opinion.

  • @lakesidepark2112

    - The beauty of it is its accessibility and just a very polished KJ release. Actually, the polished refined sound started with Eighties and just carried over to this release.

  • Este Señor, es el que nos demuestra una vez más la verdad de las cosas. Chile!

  • I listen to this song and tears roll down.

Tears of joy, of course. It really is that sublime and uplifting to me.

  • sweet.

  • 3:24 LMAO!!!

  • hey

  • Thanks to keyboards not so exposed in the mix and microphone problems this version sounds far way better than LP!

    "Instrumental" part is simply epic...

  • @McSnurf, "this version sounds far way better than LP!" agreed

  • @McSnurf I definitely agree! Jaz's faulty microphone gave the song a new light and a new power. Shows how good the song is in that it works brilliantly both with and without vocals. I wish they'd play this song live again...

  • Nice video! Thanks for share!

    Marcelo from Brazil.

  • North Shore.

  • Instrumental part at the end is IN CRE DI BLE

    awesome song

rip Raven we ll never forget you bro

  • such a subrated band :)

  • great bassline

    great song

  • Comment removed

  • Any classier guitar player than Geordie? - doubt it - awesome track - brilliant live as witnesed at Leeds Uni early 90's

  • Every concert I go to I belly-up to stage right to study his brilliance!

  • @miniwakka Totally agree. Love the way Geordie looks completely ice cool while unleashing seven shades of hell from his Gibson ES295. Pure genius.

  • Floats my boat!

  • My Favourite KJ song! Thanks for posting:) You are a legend and I am a very happy lady!

  • Paul Haven Great Bass Player !!

    Fantastic ..

  • Paul Raven

  • Kicks ass!

  • Britain's finest

  • its a natural burst for freedom!!

  • its so beautifull

  • Sounds better in live!!This is good a version!

  • My favorite song on the "Thousand Suns" album. It just pumps and pumps....great band.

  • I prefer this to the more recent stuff. This was back when Jaz singing. He has a beautiful singing voice.

On Extemities,Pandemonium and Democracy it sounds his voice sounds more agressive and not as good.

  • what a fucking great band, the drummer is a rock!

  • I regard Outside the Gate as Jaz's solo album. That's afterall what it was supposed to be.

  • Pity the crowd are full of 'stand arounds'.....should be a huge heaving mosh pit to this tune.

  • at 1:22, you can just telll that the music is flowing through Jaz

  • this is song from North Shore movie!!

  • What a riff!!!!!!!!

  • Great:)

  • Brilliant quality. Anyone have the full concert of this?

  • this was live 1986 smart one

  • Way ahead of their time!!

  • Energy, perfect sound. It's the most commercial sound of Killing Joke but it pleases my ears.

  • This is it - it's still Killing Joke, no matter what !

Well, except for Outside the Gate... ;)

  • Have to agree with kingofpunk1966. Hosannas sounds like it was recorded under water.

  • The way the man projects that voice, such power, its fuckin mental!

  • Message to Jaz Coleman-Remix Hosannas album! Get rid of the Peak Limiting/Loudness War sound & restore it to have FULL DYNAMIC RANGE

  • you've made that comment several times, i'm sure Jaz has the cusp of it now.

  • mindblowing.

  • the energi from KJ is just amazing

  • @bajen3

What?! Another Swede but me that like KJ?!

    AWESOME! :D

  • brutal groove in fact Jaz not singing due to the faulty mic makes this ine even better

  • Why does Jaz stop after 3 minutes?

I guess this performance was before the album came out, and so the lyrics hadn't been written yet. Right?

  • Jaz is actually playing additional keyboards AND singing during the middle part of the song (post 3 minutes). If you look closely you can see him singing into a microphone that's on a stand in front of his keyboard, but the mic must be faulty as no vocals can be heard.

Great song, and sounds just as good as an instrumental as it does with vocals.

Can't wait to see them at the Forum in October!!!!!!!

    R.I.P Raven

  • Thanks. Sorry, my question seems ridiculous now.

NWOBFG is a great live album.

  • beefy?

  • I cannot see how the BTATS album can be considered poor!

However, yes I agree with your second sentiment, RIP Raven.

  • Wow, I had forgotten just how good a band they are. Thanks for the post bro. They have an amazing sense of timing. My respect also to Paul's family. He won't be forgotten.

  • great band!!!!

  • Can somebody put George W. Bush on the guilliteine

  • Amazing band and a great song.

  • Fantastico !!!

  • Great song. First exposure was from the movie "North Shore"...now have finally figured out 12 years later what the name of the song is! This is not an easy one to come by. Thanks for the post. Great song. Rob

  • infuckingcredible...

r.i.p. raven and thank you for the awesome mucic.

    killing joke forever

    ^v^

  • What a fucking monstrously good song, from an equally amazing record. Great clip, thank you so much for posting this!

  • Good night Paul Raven and thank you.

    Rest In Peace.

Tonight I'm going to put on the BTATS cd, have a few beers and drink to you.

  • 1 month ago i was enjoying this awesome video, talking about how great Paul and Geordie played live, and now this terrible news. Paul was the nicest man in the band and a great bass player. We'll miss you a lot compadre!!

LOVE and RESPECT to the mighty Raven and his family.

Absent friends shall live by love.

    Paul Raven you'll always rule!!

(As friendly and active as he was i'm sure he will be working in a new project with Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham and Ian Curtis)

  • thank you for your comment!

    Respect to his family...

    den

  • RIP PAUL RAVEN I LL MISS YOU

    an anonymous fan :'(

  • Geordie is one of my favorite guitarist, and one of my biggest influence

  • This video is the shit! and you can't deny everybody in the band looked great by that time. They all are in great shape, you can feel that vibe just watching this clip. But what i loved the most about it were those moments when Jaz's mic doesn't work, you can listen some extra instrumental moments and really enjoy that awesome Geordie and Raven synergy. Thanks for sharing!

  • stonking...*****+

  • 198 fuckin' 6. Excellent song.

  • Ever notice that Geordie and U2's the edge have that cooler than cool stage presence? Music isn't music without KJ.

  • So true - You know what, your the man

  • Absolutely! The only performer I ever saw who was cooler on stage than Geordie was Lemmy.

  • Message to Jaz. Release the original Brighter than 1000 Suns mix that was done Summer 1986 that did NOT feature "Southern Sky" . Thanks Paul Fergusons Dad!

  • Or how about re-releasing "Follow The Leader"!

  • Not seen any footage of this KJ era. Quality! Cheers

  • Great footage! Been trying to find the studio version of this song. Any ideas where to find it?

  • Audio or visual? If audio it's from the album "brighter than a thousand suns" in case you didn't know already!Great album in my opinion!

  • Very good quality!!! thanks a lot!

  • wow - chessboards - semi instrumental!

  • if you cant take the joke , unlucky.

  • LOL!

Did ya'll see the part at the end where the guys are looking for Jaz to sing the mosh part.. and they find the mofo messing about behind the keyboard :) Awesome

  • great video, thanks!

  • Fantastic, heavy awesome, ahead of their time

  • oh man - nice! LOVE this record.

  • Beautiful! An awesome song from an underrated Killing Joke album. Thanks Dentoxic!
