And yeah most converters do produce poor audio quality, and when I got pissed off with that I just searched "high quality youtube to mp3 converter" on google and the job was done. I compared the sound quality with that of the video on HD, and it was exactly the same, so there's my explanation of that. And i'll say it again. He didn't say "for free" in his comment, did he? And anyways, that's why i said use a converter :)
